Sarah Palin upstages Piers Morgan's CNN premiere with Oprah Winfrey

Piersmorgan Somehow, Sarah Palin found a way to steal the thunder from the premiere of CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" and his first guest, Oprah Winfrey.

Morgan's heavily promoted CNN show got off to a decent if not thrilling start in the ratings Monday night, scoring 2.1 million total viewers according to the Nielsen Co.

But Fox News Channel, which employs Palin as an analyst, was not to be outdone. The network shrewdly scheduled the former Alaska governor as a guest on "Hannity," where she attacked the mainstream media for connecting her to the recent shooting in Tucson.

As a result, Morgan had to settle for second place to Sean Hannity, who delivered 2.4 million viewers. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow was third with 1.1 million.

Even so, the Morgan premiere at 9 p.m. delivered a rare dose of healthy ratings for CNN. The program more than tripled the audience "Larry King Live" was averaging in its final days late last year.

Some reviewers were complimentary to "Piers Morgan Tonight," while others complained that the host lobbed too many softballs in Winfrey's direction.

Sarahpalin The real test will come in the days ahead, as initial curiosity wanes for Morgan's show and viewers settle into normal patterns. Morgan has a difficult lead-in with "Parker Spitzer," a troubled interview show that has struggled to find an audience. And "Piers Morgan" will present many interviews as taped pieces rather than live, which reduces the immediacy of the events and makes it harder to play off the news.

On Tuesday night, Morgan will interview Howard Stern. Jonathan Wald, Morgan's executive producer, said of the Fox News rivalry: "It will be interesting to see what happens when we don't have Oprah and they don't have Pailn. Like, say, tonight with Howard."

What did you think of Morgan's premiere?

So after watching pierce and opra i wondered if when she said that she drank detergent that is what killed the baby. you cant walk away from that comment that easy and did she have to get to a very high place in her life so she could feel a bit of comfort saying that and not care what anyone thought. 14 is 14 you dont just walk away from that kind of event.

This is a pure flop for Morgan .

This means that to be arrogant, mediocre, racist, etc. is the best way to be defeated. Americans are clever and won't be manipulated by

This rating which is as good as a local TV in Belgium ,one of the more little country in Europe, will quickly decline.

I wish Morgan all the worst.

Ms. Palin continues to exhibit her lack of knowledge almost each time she responds to individuals who are more informed and enlightened than she is. It doesn't bother me though, because she is truly showing how lacking she is. I do at times though have some feelings of embarrasment for her.

Palin is such a train wreck. Shes the Snookey of politics!
LOL

morgan should interview palin. 2 of the dumbest most self promoting doucebags on the planet

Sarah Palin did absolutely nothing to improve her popularity--she continues to play the blame game and just doesn't see how anything she says or does couldn't make the entire world a better place. Someone less shallow would think about the terms "blood libel" or "death panel" and see if they could use rhetoric that was less polarizing. Not Sarah Palin, she is the expert on the English language and will not back down to anyone. She even agrees that her map showed cross hairs--Rebecca Mansour must be lying when she tried to convince us that they were surveyor's markers. 56% of the voters in current polls do not believe Sarah Palin--but obviously all of her fans are glued to FOX and will believe whatever their commentators are paid to say.

I thot the interviewer and interviewee laughed too much which usually indicates
both are nervous and don't have anything to say. Morgan vs Winfrey . Hopefully Morgan will get better with time. Morgan seems to take every chance
to mention the prestigious jobs hes held but he doesn't seem a great fit to replace Larry King.

I am curious that so many people in the US (I am Irish) think that Governor Palin is ignorant and 'uninformed' and furthermore is supported only by poorly educated people. Well, I have a primary degree in economics and history, a masters degree in business studies and a Ph.D in industrial economics. I also am well versed in American and European history and politics. That's a lot of education. I have the highest possible regard and respect for Sarah Palin. This is based on a carefull investigation into her actual career and actual accomplishments, particularly in the period as Alaskan Governor from January 1 2007 to April 30th 2008. The legisaltive initiatives AGIA (the framework for the gas pipeline) and ACES (oil industry legislation) were brilliant conceived and executed and were of national importance. I search in vain for any substantive accomplishment by either Barrack Obama or Hillary Clinton prior to 2008. They are media/marketing constructs.

I have to no avail tried to post my comment on more than one site where Sarah Palin was featured. I believe she is a very dangerous woman who has only one agenda, monetary gain. You can almost see right through her, she is a phoney, as phoney as the rest of the radical haters in our country, well this is a new day. People are not going to stand by and take all of this unnecessary abuse from the tea baggers and Palin wanna be's. There are so many ignorant hateful people in our country. Yes we have many that are kind and tolerant to people that don't share their views, but most of those tolerant people are people like me, and I am sick and tired of hearing all this nonsense. I don't understand why you people "the radicals" think people believe all this talk about the Healt Care Bill recently passed by the Obama Administration. The real truth of the matter is, whites are so afraid of losing power and see this black man in (thier) white house, by the way it was built on the back of slavery. As I've said previously, this is a new day, and whites have all but ruined our society, starting with the mass murder of the Native Americans, and pushing them on reservations, where they would die in proverty to the enslavement of people of color, from the Chinese to tbe Africian American, they have a lot to answer for and finally, "what goes around comes around America, we wll reap what we sow".

best of Sarah Palin:

Don't cry for me Netanyahu
The truth is I never left you

Sarah is doing a very good job, We need more like Sarah Palin, and there is only one news, Fox News.

Another idiot pretending to be Larry King! Pretender!

This is in response to Gene Carr.
I am just a regular guy with a regular amount of education and a regular amount of income. That is enough regulars. I am glad you hold Palin in such high regard for her industrial contributions to the state of Alaskah and the rest of the United States. I won't mention the recent shut down of the pipeline for leaks. I won't mention how she can see Russia from her yard. I won't mention that she quite office of the Governor. I will mention her rhetoric. It repeatedly was larded with violent imagery. There were a number of incidents that seem to follow her postings and TV interviews that contributed to an atmosphere of violence. Palin coupled with Fox News contributed to multiple shootings and other moments of hate. On top of that, her economics spells doom for the working class. You may like what her Alaskan oil policies did for the shareholders of Exxon but we don't.

GOOD POST (below): REALITY THAT THE MAINTSTREAM MEDIA WISHES TO HIDE: PALIN IS A DOER..OBAMA IS ALL TALK AND LITTLE TO SHOW FOR IT....ULTIMATE PROOF: 18 MONTHS INTO EACH OF THEIR TERMS..PALIN HAD 2X the APPROVAL RATING OF OBAMA FROM HER CONSTITUENTS..NEED WE SAY MORE? IF WE ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET PALIN AS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT..I CAN SEE A US ECONOMY REVIVAL MUCH LIKE WE HAD WITH REAGAN..AND FURTHERMORE I CAN SEE ALOT OF GOOD HAPPENING OUTSIDE THE US BECAUSE OF THIS.

"Somehow, Sarah Palin found a way to steal the thunder from the premiere of CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" and his first guest, Oprah Winfrey."

huh? She did? Don't be daft.

If more viewers tuned in to watch her, what does that say about CNN, Piers Morgan, and Oprah all put together?
Better still, what does that say about the viewers?

I didn't watch either, and for good reason.

Gene

Have you never heard her talk? She can hardly string together a coherent sentence that hasn't been prepared for her in advance.
Even then it's usually full of inaccuracies and vagueness; she often does not make any sense and leaves people scratching their heads.
In addition she doesn't appear on serious journalistic forums, instead getting her "message" out through Facebook, fox entertainment and twitter.
And her "message"? Slogans filled with lots of words that end with ...in'

This article's writer, Scott Collins, asks his readers, "What did you think of Morgan's premiere?"
.
Yet based on some of the responses found written above from the likes of Dana Hardy and Catherine these folks either...
.
do not understand Collins' question or...
.
they never saw Piers Morgan's show or...
.
they just want to spew venom toward Sarah Palin because their lives consist of bon bons, a couch, a remote control and a mouth full of jealous.

I watched the Morgan interview with Oprah and thought it was very good. I've trained my remote to skip Fox News. I do not like Sarah Palin and can't stand to listen to the sound of her voice. It's like nails on a chalkboard, can't stand it.

Sarah Palin is a wimp. She should be talking about how a good hunter finishes off the wounded animal with a sharp hunting knife. Why not? That comment does not single out any individual. It doesn't incite anyone to act violently. I'm disappointed to see this brave, wise woman back down and not tell her followers her hunters finish off the wounded. Moron. (j/k)

Everytime i read about Palin upstaging the liberals it makes me smile. She has been through one of the most coordinated smear campaigns launched against a single person that i have seen in my life, thanks to the obamamania media, and yet her influence only appears to be growing.
