Ratings for NBC's 'The Cape' were not so heroic in Sunday premiere
NBC's new superhero series "The Cape" wasn't so super in its Sunday premiere.
The two-hour special delivered an anemic average of 8.4 million total viewers, a soft opening for such a heavily promoted series.
However, the show did win the 10 p.m. time slot during its second hour.
"The Cape," which stars David Lyons as a cop imbued with special powers through a costume, is critical to NBC's sagging fortunes because it's the network's highest-profile mid-season entry. With NFL football out of the picture, the network needs the show to develop a strong following.
"The Cape" starts its usual 9 p.m. Monday run on Jan. 17.

I wasn't able to watch Sunday night, so I watched it on-demand on tuesday. I loved it, sure a bit chezzy, but isn't all "comic book" shows and movies. Will definantly be watching it again! As far as the low number of people watching... put it in a better time slot and see how it does!

The show might need a little polish. Keith David holds the key, he's cast perfectly in this role and brings credibility to the screenplay. Hopefully the suits at NBC will give it a chance to pick up viewers.

I like the show, personally. No, it's not the most original thing ever, but it's well done. Atleast he doesn't make a pact with Mephisto or start a stupid war with no plot to it.
That's for the Marvel fans.

One of the great lines in all of television occurred on "The West Wing" when Barlett was interviewing for a new secretary. The interviewee was played by Lily Tomlin. Barlett was explaining all the duties and expectations of the presidency. When he finished, Lily asked: "Does that job come with tights and a cape?"

Quite possibly the worst show I have ever watched on network TV. Love Batman, Iron Man, etc. This was just awful.
I get that this isn't supposed to be some super serious show ... but come on. Try explaining the plot to anyone. Go ahead. They will look at you like you are some sort of idiot. It's not your fault though. It's the freaking show. Whoever gave this script a green light should be fired.
There is room for a show like this. They just need to do it right. It really was on the same level as Batman Forever or Batman and Robin. It might have even been worse.

this show is just pathetic. Shaking my head in disgust.

Unfortunately I am disappointed with this show. The hype leading up to it made me want to see it, but it just fell flat, and I think it's missing its target audience (which I feel like I should be a part of). I watched the first few seasons of Heroes, and loved that. I see almost every superhero movie that comes out. I love Summer Glau and watched Firefly & the Terminator TV series. There just isn't enough grit for me, too much cheese-factor and not enough originality. As others have commented before, it's Batman-lite. I watched the premier, but got halfway through the next episode and had to turn it off and cancel the recording from my DVR. Sorry guys, not sure who you're trying to target, but ya definitely missed the mark IMO.

the cape sucks!! well the first two episodes were OK. but after that it got really cheesy, i love the idea of the cape that’s fantastic although the hood could be bigger it looks way to tight. and for the rest of the costume it sucks his armor looks like something out of roman times. he looks like he’s going trick or treating or something. as far as the story it started good but the acting is just not good at all. the guy playing the cape is just plain bad his punch lines are terrible. a good idea gone to waste!!

Absolutely I watched! I’ll have to say that the show did start out slowly, but I got hooked after the first half of the episode. This show has been overlooked by most, but I believe this show is definitely worth watching. I was recently watching reruns of Firefly and decided to play around with my Google TV, that’s when I discovered Summer Glau was on The Cape! I hope the show keeps going and does not get canceled anytime soon. This show is truly amazing and I’m glad I found it. Being that I am an employee and customer of DISH Network, I got the Logitech Revue with Google TV right when it was released. Now I can surf the internet while watching TV, and I can’t live without it.

Why is it that when we enjoy a TV program they take it off the air. Is that what happened to THE CAPE???? Is this program coming back or not?
I used to watch Third Watch and they took that one off the aire also.

I loved this show. A great variety of cast-members with the strange circus folks as part of the story. NBC needs this one to continue, if for nothing more than to offer something other than the lame, and overdone American Idaho, The Voice, and more drivel.
