'Jersey Shore' delivers MTV record of 8.4 million viewers in Season 3 premiere
The lights keep getting brighter for the young guidos and guidettes on "Jersey Shore."
Thursday's Season 3 premiere of MTV's reality soap scored 8.4 million total viewers, up 62% compared with last season's opener, according to the Nielsen Co. That made it the network's most-watched series telecast ever.
The news puts to rest any notion that Snooki and friends may have peaked. "Jersey Shore's" ratings have been steadily climbing since it premiered in December 2009, when just 1.4 million tuned in. The Season 2 rollout in July averaged 5.2 million viewers.

I'm from Jersey, Sometimes we go down the shore
In the summer and a lot of the buildings and businesses are really old
I hope that all this attention results
in Seaside Heights and other shore towns getting their act together
and building new attractions Hotels & bars, Instead of all the dive bars
that have seen better days.

this is a bombastic show, especially after a long week at work
you come home and crack up with this show, the kids are having fun that's all it is.

People watch this to blow steam and laugh. The problem people are those who ONLY watch this stuff, but an occassional candy bar, TV style, won't kill you.

As expected the show’s return ratings were phenomenal. When it comes right down to it, great TV and great entertainment are always a must. Actually, MTV and Jersey Shore are always at the top of the list. I recently purchased a 26" HD LCD and upgraded to DISH Network’s 722K. I never realized that there was such a difference between JWWOW and JWWOW in HD! Lol. Speaking as an employee, but more importantly a customer of DISH, if you haven’t upgraded to HD, I would recommend getting with the program. DISH Network offers MTV in HD and plenty others! (:
