'How I Met Your Mother': Nazanin Boniadi to guest as a love interest
Nazanin Boniadi may not be a big name, but she will be playing opposite one of the biggest cads on television. The former “General Hospital” actress will guest-star on “How I Met Your Mother” as a love interest for Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), CBS confirms.
Not much else is known about Boniadi's character, Sarah, except that she'll appear in multiple episodes.
Last October, “HIMYM” executive producer Craig Thomas told Show Tracker that the second half of this season will see Barney growing and maturing as he comes to terms with his father issues. “It’s not just Barney having schemes to meet ladies,” Thomas said. “We’re getting a little bit deeper into Barney’s back story, and Barney growing up a little bit and deciding part of that journey is to go find his father.”
As a result, Barney may also be reconsidering his position on love and marriage. “I think we’re going to see [Barney] come out of the season a little bit changed, a little bit grown up,” continued Thomas. “And I wouldn’t rule out Barney starting, as he now gets in his mid-30s, to at least think about what his future would be and would that include growing up enough to get married, or settle down, or anything like that. I think we’re going to see him start to think about those things.”
Could Sarah be a part of Barney's new outlook on relationships? Or will she be the catalyst that brings Barney and Robin (Cobie Smulders) back together? Readers, sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

If Barney and Robin get together, and Lilly and Marshall are together, I have a hard time imagining how they'll get Ted's love interest to ever be a believable addition to the group. How could she not be the outsider, always?

I think that Barney and Robin need to get back together. They are a perfect couple, and bring out happiness in each other!

This better be the catalyst to bring Barney and Robin back together, and nothing else!!! After what B/R fans were put through last season, because the writers suddenly decided no one wanted to "see barney in a sweater vest and settled down"----to have him settle down with anyone but robin would be a huge insult, but more importantly, a huge mistake.
Barney and Robin are perfect for each other, have been from Day 1. I think maybe barney NEEDS someone to kind of push him in the right direction...if this character is it, I'm okay with that.

I'm a big fan of Nazanin's from her GH days and I loved seeing her in Iron Man, too. What a treat to have her join my favorite TV show playing opposite my favorite character. I LOVE Barney! NPH better get an Emmy this year!

She's really pretty - hopefully she'll be a good addition.
And yeah, I'd like Barney and Robin together eventually, but I don't want it to happen this season. Maybe Barney dating someone new will be good for him. I'm interested in how they'll make it realistic, though - Barney knew Robin for a long time, and even after he realized he loved her, he still resisted dating her. A couple of episodes ago, Barney's inner-thoughts said he was glad he was still single. So, I'm curious as to how they'll get him to suddenly decide he wants to start a dating a random woman, when he's been really resistant to that in the past.

She has to be the catalyst for them to get back together. Those two are soul mates...but secretly I do kinda wish Robin was with someone else. I think Nazanin will be a good addition to the cast. She may just need what Barney needs to start growing up. I don't anything would happen between Barney and Robin until next season..if not the series finale..whenever that may be. I HOPE NEVERRR!

Her name is Nora, not Sarah.

I don't think Barny and Robin look good together. They are both bold characters who know each other too well. They lack a mystery factor that can result in LOVE.
As for this new character. She looks *AMAZING* and a perfect fit for Barny coz she doesn't fear to listen to her heart and she has some brains, unlike any other girl Barny has met before (of course excluding Robin).
Barny and Nora a a perfect fit...
And i am loving this season... ^_^

First of all, props to the producers for giving Ms. Boniadi a non-ethnic role. Nora is Barney's real deal, not a Ted herring. Barney will vacillate and try to revert to his old ways. However, he'll either fail to seduce his usual women or will feel no satisfaction in succeeding anymore, because none of the other girls will stir him as Nora did. There'll be misunderstandings and near-misses through a half season but Barney will find his way back to Nora. Robin's happy ending will be career-oriented, perhaps as a foreign news correspondent whose misadventures occur away from the gang of friends. In fact the Robin story might segue well into a spinoff series if Cobie Smulders is game (Murphy Brown, anyone?).
