Supernanny: Danielle is a former parent educator, but she’s having trouble translating what she knows about raising children to her own offspring in this new episode (8 p.m. ABC).
Kitchen Nightmares: Chef Gordon Ramsay returns with a new season of visiting restaurants that have fallen on hard times and shows their owners how to turn them around — whether it’s a menu makeover, new decor, a personnel shakeup or all of the above (8 p.m. Fox).
CSI: NY: Sela Ward joined the cast of the forensics drama as a former FBI agent in this repeat (9 p.m. CBS).
Gold Rush: Alaska: The miners must find $10,000 worth of gold or their families will be sent home in this new episode (10 p.m. Discovery).
Onion News Network: One of the network’s reporters is kidnapped in the premiere of the TV news parody (10 p.m. IFC).
Spartacus: Gods of the Arena: A delay in the second season of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” — necessitated by former title star Andy Whitfield’s cancer treatment — spawned this six-part prequel, set before Spartacus’ arrival. (10 p.m. Starz).
Portlandia: Steve Buscemi guest stars in the premiere of this new comedy (10:30 p.m. IFC).
MOVIES Mamma Mia: Amanda Seyfried plays a young bride-to-be who wants to know her father’s identity before she walks down the aisle. Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard also star in this 2008 adaptation of the Broadway musical (8 p.m. TBS).
The Hurt Locker: Director Kathryn Bigelow turned her attention to the Iraq War with this Oscar-winning 2009 story of a U.S. military unit assigned to defuse bombs. Jeremy Renner, Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes star (9 p.m. Showtime).
SPORTS
Tennis: Australian Open, Day 6 (6 p.m. and midnight ESPN2).
Pro basketball: The Lakers visit the Denver Nuggets (7:30 p.m. KCAL).
