Charlie Sheen enters rehab [Update]
Charlie Sheen voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center Friday, according to his publicist.
“He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern,” said Stan Rosenfield, Sheen’s publicist. Adding, “Sheen asks that his privacy be respected at this time and that no additional informational will be provided.”
As a result, CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre are placing “Two and a Half Men” on production hiatus.
“We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision,” the network said in a statement.
The news comes after Sheen's recent stint in the hospital.
[Update 5:05 p.m.: What was supposed to be the tail end of a scheduled hiatus from Sheen’s work on CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” quickly spiraled into a publicity nightmare.
The 45-year-old actor was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital Thursday morning due to severe abdominal pains, later described by Rosenfield to be a hernia condition. He was released Thursday night and was expected to return to the set of the hit comedy series Tuesday.
Now Sheen is seeking treatment, shutting down production.
This season, the show has a 24-episode order and has already taped 16 episodes. Only two of those have not aired. At this time, it is unclear whether the series will be able to produce all of its remaining eight episodes.
But the actor remains optimistic.
"I'm fine," Sheen told Radar Online Senior Executive Editor Dylan Howard via text message Friday afternoon, around the time news broke that he had entered rehab.
"People don't seem to get it.... Guy can't have a great time and do his job also?"]

I'll believe this rehab thing if (and when) he's in there at least three or four months. I have a feeling this is just a ploy to get the law off his butt...and he'll stay in this rehab facility for only a week or two, which won't be nearly enough time. Frankly, I don't care what happens to this guy...he's a loser.

How many times does this make? Unless he gets a good dose of humility, I see very little hope for him. This has to be rough for the cast and crew of the show, but the producers need to just let him go and quit the show. It ain't that good, anyway.

They shouldn't continue to send him to rehab, but instead send him to work at Children's Hospital for a few months. Maybe he would stop feeling sorry for himself.

bob cuomo: you are the loser since you wasted some minutes of your life to write something nonsense.

Charlie's a loser?
You're a broke-ass Bob. YOU are the loser.

He has too much money to stay sober! When you're a millionaire and don't have a regular 9 to 5 job you drink and party out of boredom.

i or in all likelihood, no one commenting on this story knows anything about this guy but one thing is obvious: there's a tinge of selfishness in this guy. there are folks on that set that depend on this guy to show up for work and he simply can't or doesn't care. rehab is for those who really want to change; i don't see that mr. sheen really wants to. oh well, at least he can afford the best there is...for now.

Judith, I agree. "Children's Hospital" is the unfunniest show on television at the moment, and it would serve Charlie right to have to work on it.

Who cares? That's all theTimes has to worry about? Apparently.

If there's anyone who doesn't get it, it's Charlie Sheen. Time to shut down Two and a Half men and move on.

I loved it when Jon Cryer said he checks in with TMZ before reporting to work (to see what Charlie has been up to).

Charlie will never hit rock bottom. Spoiled little industry kid just never grew up. If he keeps it up I bet on him in the Dead Pool.
