'Glee' poll: Who's your favorite new Gleek?

Despite having my reservations about the exponentially expanding "Glee" cast, newcomers such as Sam (Chord Overstreet), Blaine (Darren Criss) and Coach Beiste (Dot Jones) have been surprisingly welcome and popular additions. And judging from “Glee” co-creator Ryan Murphy's recent comments, there will be many more fresh faces roaming the halls of McKinley High in a couple of years.

"Every year we’re going to populate a new group. There's nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot,” he told news.com.au.

Murphy anticipates that some of the current cast will exit the show at the end of the 2012 season as their characters graduate. "I think you have to be true to the fact that here is a group of people who come and go in these teachers' lives -– they graduate and they're gone," he said. But there's no denying that fans have latched on to the Glee Club members and the rising stars who portray them, so Murphy is “concerned” about a big cast change. However, “I think one of the things I'm very happy we’ve been able to do this year is we’ve brought in new characters,” he added.

Indeed, I think that is one area where the show has really succeeded this season. The introductions of Sam and Blaine haven't been as intrusive as one would imagine, and Overstreet and Criss have turned in overwhelmingly charismatic performances. Meanwhile, Jones brought something really unexpected to the role of Coach Beiste -- a lovely vulnerability. Even the characters we barely glimpsed such as Sunshine Corazon (Charice) made quite an impression. That leads me to the following poll...

Readers, what do you think of Murphy's plan? Who will you miss the most? And what do you think of this season's newbies?

Why didn't "Charice" stay on the program? I liked her.

I was skeptical about the new cast members. During the summer it seemed like we were always hearing about a new cast member or a new guest star. I was definitely worried but I think the show has made an effort to balance the new characters with the current cast. It hasn't been perfect but I've been surprised by how much I like the new cast members.

I don't know what RM is smoking, but Sam is not a great addition. His entrance was great, but now he's essentially useless and boring.

Blaine and Dr. Carl are great additions. Now, Darren has the potential too lead the new generation of gleeks. He has the charisma and talent for it.

i think Ryan Murphy will make us all speculate things which infact the story line doesnt fall as what we expected,, i would love Sunshine Corazon hope Ryan will give her more appearance soon.

To EEM: Since she joined Vocal Adrenaline, I expect her to be back for some screen time during the period before Regionals, since New Directions will most likely be competing against them.

Eh I was not that impressed by Charice. Yeah, kid can sing, but she's just so *trained*. Everything seemed overacted. I can't say that I miss her character.

I ADORE Darren Criss. He's been such an all-star--and he's only had 2 songs so far!

Also, can we keep John Stamos? DAMN. He is the finest dentist ever. He's been a really fun addition too.

Darren Criss is by far the best new addition. He's talented, he's sexy, and he is an excellent role model to everyone, gays or not.

I'm pretty glad that Charice didn't stay. I'm really hoping that she doesn't pop up again later.

That new girl Lizzie (or lezlie?), that saved Puck, has to stay, she is toooo funny.

From the list my favorite has to be Darren.

You do know all the Starkid kids will vote for Darren and all the Charice fan will vote for Char ice. The other don't have huge big fan bases.

Why Charcie is even on their is unknown. She is not a semi regular like others.

he has been on for maybe 5 minutes.

I kinda feel like Stamos and Charice maybe shouldn't be included, since they're just guest stars, not recurring characters (like Sam/Blaine/Coach Beiste). I just can't see the former two being here for the long haul (like the latter three could be :)

But in all seriousness, how does Blaine NOT win this going away? ;)

Charice rocks, I only watch glee for her . It seems like a pretty cool show.

so true! i was surprised at how big Darren Criss' fanbase is. and i'm pretty sure Darren Criss' fans are just as surprised at how big Charice's fanbase is. we're called Chasters btw.

@those people wondering when she'll be back (and those who don't want her to come back, sorry to disappoint you [= )

she's booked for 10 episodes according to earlier reports so that means she'll be on 9 m0re episodes next year.

Inquirer Entertainment recently did an interview with RM and asked him to confirm if Sunshine is indeed a recurring character this season and if she will also recur in the next seasons (when some ND members graduate) and he had this to say:

“You never know with that show, but Charice’s role is the same size that Jonathan Groff’s character had this year—her character is not in every episode but she will be in a lot of episodes. She is the rival of Lea Michele’s character. That’s what Charice plays. I wanted to do a diva-off thing.” -RM (about Charice's character on Glee)

read the rest of the article here:

and find out how and why Charice was cast on Glee:

"That’s one of those things where somebody walks in and you’re just so touched that you say, ‘I have to write something for you.’ So that’s how it happened.”" -RM (talking about how Charice was cast on Glee)

Darren Criss is the only reason I watch Glee. Now they just need to figure out how to write in the rest of Team StarKid into the story lines.

I love Sunshine ♥ ^_^

The only new character who has brought any real non-singing moments to the show is Coach Beiste. That could have been a ridiculous stereotype and Dot Jones has filled the character with some surprising facets. I like when I don't know where a character will take me, when I'm surprised by their depth. She's done this. And without all the showy singing just straight up acting ability. If they don't remember her come Emmy time I'll be shocked.

I like all the additions to the cast, but one big beautiful soul stands out for me: Ms. Dotty Jones... In Coach Beiste, Mr. Murphy added a strong, sensitive character in conflict with herself, her profession, Coach Sylvester (Jane Lynch), and much of the school; conflict is drama. The role of Coach Beiste is wonderfully crafted and Ms. Jones has done a fantastic job at bringing her to life.

its just this crazy admiration on charice, good she came to our lives, otherwise, life is boring w/o charice, her music and her kindness, and humbleness. she's so sweet, down to earth. congrats charice, even i haven't shake hands w/ u but maybe soon, maybe my 3rd time watching u i will be lucky for a hand shake.

Dot Jones rules!

Darren Criss rules, actually. He's the best. He's portrayed Harry Potter in AVPM and AVPS, he's got an amazing voice, he's happy with his role and Kurt and Blaine are just so adorable together. I think that they should really get together ASAP. Because fangirls are waiting.
