“Glee” may have decided to pass on doing a tribute episode for its post-Super Bowl outing, but it’s still finding a way to incorporate the King of Pop. The show will do a mash-up of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and another song for the post-Super Bowl episode, a Fox rep confirms.

The episode will also feature covers of Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry songs, making it one of “the most expensive in ‘Glee’ history and likely one of television’s priciest episodes ever,” Entertainment Weekly reports. In keeping with the sports-themed nature of the evening, the episode will revolve around the local football championship and Sue Sylvester’s cheerleading regionals. The football storyl means Coach Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) will appear in the episode, but she’s not the only newcomer who will be featured. Blaine (Darren Criss) will also be in the episode.

Additionally, General Motors will co-sponsor the episode, so it looks you won’t have to hit the fast-forward button through commercials as often as usual.

Also of note: Jackson and Bruce Springsteen were never in the running for a possible post-Super Bowl tribute episode. The only artist that was discussed, Elton John, will get a tribute episode in the back nine episodes of the season.

Readers, what has you more excited: The cast doing ‘Thriller’ or the idea of Blaine and Kurt (Chris Colfer) being exposed to a football audience? Which Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry songs do you hope the show will tackle?
