'Dancing With the Stars': Blogosphere in a tizzy over Bristol Palin's advance to the finals

122653_9952_pre The "Dancing With the Stars" voters have come out in droves to keep Bristol "the Pistol" Palin in the competition. And now the blogosphere is speaking out about the controversial news that the improved, yet still low-scoring teen activist and political daughter beat out the likes of Kurt Warner, Rick Fox, Audrina Patridge and Brandy to make it to the Season 11 finals.

"Let the conspiracy theories begin!" said Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy blog

"After Tuesday night, it should be plainly obvious to anyone even barely paying attention to the 11th season that ABC and 'Dancing With the Stars' have -- for want of a better phrase -- a 'Bristol problem,'" wrote Verne Gay in Newsday.

Jimmy Kimmel called Brandy the latest victim of "Hurricane Bristol" and suggested "an organized Tea Party voting bloc" was behind Brandy's elimination when the ousted singer and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Perhaps the most violent reaction came from a 67-year-old Wisconsin man, who had a standoff with authorities and was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment when he reportedly shot his television after Bristol Palin's performance, citing that "he didn’t think she was a good dancer."

And of course, there was no shortage of theories posted by commenters themselves. Here's a sampling of the Bristol buzz on the Internet Wednesday morning:

"BRISTOL, REALLY? Please people, vote next week and get real!" exclaimed oc_loladee.

"The ONLY reason Bristol is still there is due to viewers votes. SHE CANNOT DANCE and DEFINITELY doesn't deserve to be in the finals. This season's voting results had nothing to do with talent or skill because if it did Bristol should have been voted off the 1st week! It's a popularity contest that has gone HORRIBLY wrong at other peoples expense," said SB.

"Apparently many Americans prefer mediocrity. Thanks Tea Party!" wrote in Tiki.

Still, others chalk it up to the nature of the game.

"It is no shock that Brisotl is in the Finals... look at Kelly O (famous daughter, not the best dancer... made the finals)... the show is Not Just About Dancing! If it was, Kyle would be gone too (with his poor posture, and scattered footwork at times). It is part dancing, part a journey, part entertainment, and part voting simply for whom you want to win. I vote for Bristol because I like her performances... she's not being political at all," explained Keith.

"Haters. The girl embodies what the show is about. Non dancers learning to dance. I can't stand her mother, but I am completely taken with Bristol, she is real. And that is where her votes are coming from. They are coming from the people that realize that that is what they would look like up there," wrote in Stefanie.

And there are those who believe that Brandy was ousted by her own hand. "brandy's obsession to win was a bit of a turn off. THe other contestants seemed like they were there to have fun. I picked against brandy for that reason alone," said Carlos.

I'm simply appall that Bristol Palin has NOT been cut. She is by far the most uninteresting dancer. Her scores has been consistently low. Why is it she is still on? Granted she did improve, so did all the other contestants who were cut. It is clearly a conspiracy. Brandy and Rick Fox should definitely have not been cut. I'm DONE!

This is just a dance show. I did not vote for Bristol but whoever did such a terrible thing to a young girl is horrible and I will now vote for her. I pray that whoever did this will be caught.

People should be so compassionate about their moral conduct, like lying and deception. But for dancing? haha.

I SPEAK FOR ALL OF AMERICA EXCEPT THE TEA PARTY. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME SPEAKING OUT AND I FEEL SOMEBODY NEEDS TO. WHY DO THE JUDGES SCORE CONTESTANTS IF THE WORST DANCER CAN BE IN THE BOTTOM AND HAVE THE LOWEST SCORES 6-8 TIMES AND BE IN THE FINALS?? THIS IS CRAZY AND UNREAL!!! BRISTOL PALIN IS THE WORST; SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE AND DAMN SURE DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE IN THE FINALS NOR WIN!!! DANCING WITH THE STARS HAVE REACHED AN ALL TIME LOW AND THIS SHOULD BE THE LAST EPISODE BECAUSE OF IT!!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR THE BEST DANCER NOT THE ONE WHOSE "MOMMA" JUST GETS SOMEONE TO WATCH THE SHOW AND VOTE REGARDLESS OF PERFORMANCE. THE SHOW IS RIGGED AND NOT WORTH WATCHING ANYMORE!! I SPEAK FOR AMERICA!! THE TEA PARTY IS CRAZY AND SO IS THE RECENT RESULTS OF YOUR SHOW!!!

I am backing Kyle or Bristol. I am sick and tired of Grey and her complaining yet she danced stronglly every week. Brandy was a cut throat and seemed mean about winning. The fans voted for Bristol and that is why she is still there. Why is no one mad about Kyle who was not as good as Kurt?? He has much improved and of the three I hope he wins. I don't want Bristol to win since people will continue to say it is because of her mother. Even the judges complimented her on her dancing ability; their beef was that she wasn't dramatic enough of theatrical enough. Brandy was probably the best dancer but her attitude knocked her out. Jennifer should lose because as I see it, she tried to get people to feel sorry for her. Boo Hoo, why did she go on the show in the first place if she had so many physical problems. She used that as a crutch in case she didn't do well. Brandy sounded like she would steamroll her own mother to win. So they have all had their bad points. We all have the chance to vote and if your person did not win it is your own fault.

What is the perspective of those posting comments? The contestants are a mixed bag, some with natural dance ability, many never dancing other than a night out with friends. Bristol has made the most improvement, works hard with her teacher/partner, listens to the judges, and while she may not be as extroverted as the others, she has proven to be a real competitor. Brandy's combatant attitude with her professional partner was a turn-off from the start, as was her phony expression when facing the judges. Jennifer's only previous experience in a movie did not make her a professional, but she's been in the business long enough to know it's hard work, especially at her age, and she looks great to still look as graceful as the pros. And Kyle's exhuberant outlook even with constant criticisms from the judge earned him his place. So stop complaining about Bristol's mother, personal status, lack of movie star label, and give the girl credit for an A+ effort. I've been a dance instructor, have had my share of students who had two left feet but managed to learn to be good dancers.

DAN, take it easy because I realize you'r a tea bagger, and if Bristol do win I hope she dosn't think she was a better dancer than the rest but because her mama made it happen for her, because you and even the people who voted for her knows she cant dance, you cn tell it when her partner has to drag her along like dead weigth on the floor and her face has no emmotion, and for DWTS your show has stunk to high heavens!!!!

The Elaine character dancing on a Seinfeld episode was far more entertaining then any of these "stars" and forever an indelible memory.

The tea party has put Bristol Palin where she is being in the finals. She may have worked hard but is much slower
and much worse than many of dancers who have been voted off
long ago. The judges scores should be weighted heavier.
There is no doubt Bristol will win even though Jennifer
and partner are a hundred times better. I for one will
never watch Dancing With the Stars again.

Bristol never should have been on Dancing with the Stars. If she has a personal problem because her Mom always wants to be the center of attention and is money hungry and a fame whore, Bristol should have gone to a shrink to discuss her personal demons. It makes no sense to advance a person who has no talents for dancing, no sense of rhythm, who has no energy and is overweight and can only move in slow speed. Her family turned this into a popularity contest and a sympathy vote because Bristol had never worked in the entertainment field. If you are not a Star and you can't dance, someone with a few more brains mind have taken a pass on being in this competition--but Bristol was motivated by greed. Same with Sarah--someone who has no idea about the duties of being the President, who is not very bright, and who quit mid-term as Alaska's Guv because everyone thought she was only interested in self promotion and making money, this person is clearly not qualified for higher office and should take a pass on it. It is all about the Peter Principle--don't think that you can handle something just because of the money and celebrity status and media attention--instead judge your future performance on how good your previous job performance was.

It has nothing to do with what race you are, it's a popularity contest. This is "Dancing With The Stars", when did Bristol Palin become a star?! Oh wait, I forgot, she was knocked up and now famous. Only in America. Remember people this is a dancing contest, nothing to do with your mother, ex-boyfriend or anything else. DANCING ONLY. Judge a person by their skills not their family. BTW, now they have a show called Alaska or something like that and her mother will probably run for the Presidential Race. It's all one big show under the tent. Keep feeding them as they get richer and richer!
