'Dancing With the Stars': Blogosphere in a tizzy over Bristol Palin's advance to the finals

122653_9952_pre The "Dancing With the Stars" voters have come out in droves to keep Bristol "the Pistol" Palin in the competition. And now the blogosphere is speaking out about the controversial news that the improved, yet still low-scoring teen activist and political daughter beat out the likes of Kurt Warner, Rick Fox, Audrina Patridge and Brandy to make it to the Season 11 finals.

"Let the conspiracy theories begin!" said Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy blog

"After Tuesday night, it should be plainly obvious to anyone even barely paying attention to the 11th season that ABC and 'Dancing With the Stars' have -- for want of a better phrase -- a 'Bristol problem,'" wrote Verne Gay in Newsday.

Jimmy Kimmel called Brandy the latest victim of "Hurricane Bristol" and suggested "an organized Tea Party voting bloc" was behind Brandy's elimination when the ousted singer and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Perhaps the most violent reaction came from a 67-year-old Wisconsin man, who had a standoff with authorities and was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment when he reportedly shot his television after Bristol Palin's performance, citing that "he didn’t think she was a good dancer."

And of course, there was no shortage of theories posted by commenters themselves. Here's a sampling of the Bristol buzz on the Internet Wednesday morning:

"BRISTOL, REALLY? Please people, vote next week and get real!" exclaimed oc_loladee.

"The ONLY reason Bristol is still there is due to viewers votes. SHE CANNOT DANCE and DEFINITELY doesn't deserve to be in the finals. This season's voting results had nothing to do with talent or skill because if it did Bristol should have been voted off the 1st week! It's a popularity contest that has gone HORRIBLY wrong at other peoples expense," said SB.

"Apparently many Americans prefer mediocrity. Thanks Tea Party!" wrote in Tiki.

Still, others chalk it up to the nature of the game.

"It is no shock that Brisotl is in the Finals... look at Kelly O (famous daughter, not the best dancer... made the finals)... the show is Not Just About Dancing! If it was, Kyle would be gone too (with his poor posture, and scattered footwork at times). It is part dancing, part a journey, part entertainment, and part voting simply for whom you want to win. I vote for Bristol because I like her performances... she's not being political at all," explained Keith.

"Haters. The girl embodies what the show is about. Non dancers learning to dance. I can't stand her mother, but I am completely taken with Bristol, she is real. And that is where her votes are coming from. They are coming from the people that realize that that is what they would look like up there," wrote in Stefanie.

And there are those who believe that Brandy was ousted by her own hand. "brandy's obsession to win was a bit of a turn off. THe other contestants seemed like they were there to have fun. I picked against brandy for that reason alone," said Carlos.

Go along with me...I refuse to watch the show next week, but I will phone in my votes and rest assured they will not be for Palin!!!

From here on in your rating would be going down because I have just joined the many people of all races who thought the show was about the best dancer and not who's who. This is not just because Brandy was voted off it is also because of those who have been booted off the show and are much better dancers than she is and were robbed of the opportunity just to advance Bristol. No matter how much you tell me it was not fixed It speaks for itself. Nothing is honest and fair anymore it's all about a hidden agenda. So Bye Bye DWTS I am very disappointed in the show (you expected higher ratings instead it has backfired on you) - I will never feel the same about this show.

To all the Bristol Haters...BEWARE...once the new world Tea Party Order takes control...we will come for you first!

What country do we live in where RECKLESS Teenage whose only claim to fame is she got herself knocked up under age and unmarried who's mom swear by morals can be selected to the finals of a dance contest? BP has as much as much grace as a pregnant cow (which she resembles) ok a little harsh but She acts like she a victim. If this a results of Tea party voters then America needs to wake up and take note of the ethics and personal causes of this group. They say we don't get a second chance. Well here is you chance to see again what the tea party is about

Bristol Palin made the finals for a number of reasons. The same reasons that Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, and many others made it. It's a viewers show and the viewers get to vote on who goes forward. I have no problem with Bristol making it to the final 3 - it's a popularity contest, people! That's why people you never heard of get bounced after 3 weeks. The fact that it's nettling so many on the left is music to my ears!

I voted for Bristol because she is the most improved dancer. Kyle is cute but his footwork is terrible and his partner dances around him, He barely moves.. Kyle has not improved at all. Brandy had the attitude that she had already won and I loved it when she was voted off. Jennifer is a cry baby and yes she is the best dancer but this is not a show that is being judged on dancing ability. Bristol is your average girl with out any experience in front of a camera let alone dancing. I think her confidence has increased as well as her footwork and dancing ability. I find it in poor taste to belittle all the viewers that voted for her.. My vote certainly counted and I could care less who her mother is.

Come on now, the girl should have went home weeks ago. This is a dancing competition, not the election.

The people mad here at Palin are the same folks who were mad that Adam "Screech" Lambert lost American Idol.

Both shows are nothing but popularity contests.
ANY show that relies on the public to choose the winner is the same.
Get it now?

Good, get over it, Palin is more popular than Brandy.. Case closed.

I sincerely believe the voting should be 75% from the judges and 25% from outside voting. It is absolutely insane for someone like Bristol to continue. It's called Dancing with the Stars. She is not a star, far from it and her dancing is just everyday-you-and-me dancing. No talent at all. I know for one if she wins, it will be the last time I watch that program. This time the voting has gone too far to be fair.

What a joke this season of dancing with the stars is. It is not a dance contest, it is a popularity contest. Bristol doesn't know her left foot from her right and certainly has no rhythm.

America voted "get over it", next week Jennifer Grey should take home the mirror ball. But if Bristol should happen to win, then that is what America voted for, like it or not...

I was watching Dancing With The Stars on a must watch basis but after Tuesday nights booting off of Brandy; I will never watch the show again. Sure Brandy is human and she has made mistakes but people fail to realize that they make mistakes as well!!! I am sure that Brandy did not set out to hurt anyone nor kill anyone but we judge people because we have not been put in their shoes. Bristol should not have been chosen to be on the show at all. I think that it is all a setup!! A waste of time DSW is!!!!

I'm BEGGING you....KANYE WEST....please please be at the DWTS finale so you can bum rush Tom & Brooke when Kyle gets canned!

Maybe the judging system should be more like ANTM where Tyra decides who get canned or Apprentice where Donald Trump decides. I know, I know, the show was designed to "give America a voice" but people pleeesssssseee..... not an annoying shrieky voice!

I am concerned about the political nature of DWTS now. Our country has been screwed up enough. I did vote for Bristol until the last couple of weeks just to give her a chance and because she was improving. I think it was because I felt she was being squashed by her mother (she knew she was pregnant and still ran for office, bound to bring her attention to the public) and I wanted to see her confidence grow. However, I do not want her to replace people who could win on their dancing skills. Her personality is better than Brandy's, but her dsncing is not. I want the best dancer to win this. Now it is Jennifer who is the best. Before the Bristol bomb last week, it could have been a question between Brandy and Jennifer. Now we don't know. This ruined it for me. I can understand the guy who shot his tv. The elderly and the middle class and poor have already been shot by the last election and now this. I guess the majority of voting Americans are idiots.

This show is paid off by the far right wing

What is up with all of the hatred spewing forth? Bristol may not be the best dancer, but she obviously connected with a lot of people and it is showing in the votes. And why in the world are some people trying to pull race into this? Seriously?

Wow, Bristol is making headlines. That idiot bipolar is an idiot for shooting his TV. That was hilarious LOL.
Again I agres with some of the comments here, we are voting for Bristol because she is not boastful and so is her partner Mark Ballas. Both kids has a GREAT attitudes. Bristol is down to earth and natural. She is working very hard to learn her steps and she took the criticisms nicely and accept them without making funny faces etc. Those others can't take the criticims from the Judge. I could careless of Brandy she can cry as huge as the SEA, I am glas she is out of there, she is dying to win this but she is not graceful. Plus her partner Maxim is egotistic I don't like his attutudes mouthing off with the judges. BEsides Brandy and him doesn't get along. Big turn off for me for Brandy is her dance partner. But Bristol and Mark are good couple together, so is Kyle and Lacey those kids are awesome and no drama at all. Kyle is funn and entertaining. But Bristol is not the judges favorites so, the fans are making up for the lost of her points from the judges. OOH on the side note for Brandy.... don't worry the mirror glass ball is worthless is a piece of crap so No worries, you are not missing anything. But your fans did not support you enough. So Goooooooooooooooo BRistol and Mark!!! whoohoo!!

I will never watch this show again. POLITICAL!!!!!!!!!
