Conservatives respond: Bristol Palin is not dancing with the tea party

121771_D_0273_ful There is no graver decision before you, my fellow Americans, than the choice you will have to make on Monday night.

Will it be the classy Jennifer Grey? The fun-loving Kyle Massey? Or the indomitable Bristol Palin?

Oh, the suspense.

Here at Show Tracker we thought we had exhausted our coverage of the controversy that landed at our feet Wednesday morning, after Sarah Palin's eldest daughter once again survived elimination for the seventh consecutive week.  But then we realized we could do more. We could reach out to the conservative "tea party" movement and see if there was any truth to the notion that they were conspiring to light up the phone lines and crash ABC.com servers with their blanket support of the 20-year-old "Dancing With the Stars" contestant.

In between hearty laughs, Dawn Wildman, co-coordinator of the California Tea Party Patriots,  dismissed the idea of an organized coalition to get the dancing competition's mirror ball trophy in Palin's young hands.

"We are all still reeling from the elections and the business at hand with the lame duck session," said Wildman, of San Diego. "And I wish we had the opportunity to spend time to just sort of mull the situation for 'Dancing With the Stars.' But that’s just not happening. It is interesting that the left would think that there is somehow a concerted effort or a conspiracy of the 'tea party' movement to propel this young woman into — what? Winning the giant disco ball award? What would we actually achieve by her doing that? How will it help the nation if Bristol Palin wins 'Dancing With the Stars'? I don’t think any of us have enough time on our hands to consider our options for that one."

To be fair, there are plenty of individual conservatives backing Bristol Palin and using social media to garner support for her. Author and talk show host Tammy Bruce certainly has made no secret of her dancing preferences on her Twitter account. And Smart Girl Politics, a conservative organization, encouraged visitors to its site on Monday to carry Palin into the semifinals. But is that any different than fans for Rick Fox or singer Brandy drumming up support for them on their Facebook pages?

"I think there are individuals, like there would be in any community or group," said Stacy Mott, president of Smart Girl Politics. But are some of the big conservative organizations out there putting out 'Dancing With the Stars'' phone numbers?  No. There’s some excitement, absolutely, but is it solely the tea party that’s keeping her in it? Absolutely not. The movement is not pushing this."

Wildman attributes Bristol Palin's popularity on the show to her everywoman quality, with which this YouTube user seems to agree.

"To me, it just looks like a giant personality contest," Wildman said. "The show was not built to have the best of the Rockettes on there. The whole point is that you’re bringing in people out of their comfort zone to put them into this setting with professionals. And I think the appeal of Bristol Palin is that she’s a young woman who’s made some mistakes and has been dinged up pretty good in the media because of it. I can’t imagine being her age and having every stupid act any of us ever do at that age be front-page news. So, if she’s actually excelling at something that she’s really enjoying and putting her all into it, then why wouldn’t people want to support that, whether they’re tea partyers or not?"

Mott also noted that Palin has been savvy about using Facebook and her website to stay connected to the show's viewers.

"The one thing that she herself is doing better than the other contestants is she’s getting the information out on her social media sites and her website," she said. "I don't see others doing that. Besides that, she’s the underdog. She’s someone who’s not a star. Kelly Osbourne was rooting for her. And I have no doubt that Kelly Osbourne has no fascination with Sarah Palin, but it’s something she can relate to."

This season, with all of its surprise eliminations — Rick Fox especially — "Dancing With the Stars" has picked up an additional 3.3 million viewers. It certainly hasn't hurt that the former governor of Alaska has been on set a few times to watch her daughter perform.

"If people are watching to get time away from their heads exploding from all the politics, then it’s a good thing," Wildman said. "And good for Bristol. I think it’s incredibly brave of all the people that go on there that don’t come from dancing backgrounds to be out there every week, giving it their all, in a hugely subjective fashion. But other than that, I'm sorry, I just find this all so incredibly stupid."

Mott echoed the feeling.

"If this is what people are worried about, God help us," she said. "Then again, I get that if people have to focus on the real issues in the world, it gets really scary."

Just like with Jesus and Judas, the enemy often comes from within! Liberals, liars, unlicensed Latinos and now the GOP are violently protesting Bristol Palin's success on Dancing w/ the Stars. They want Jennifer 'I've worked with gays & immigrants in Hollywood' Gray to win & Obama to stay in office for 4 more years. To help FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, I've come up with 10 fact-based, inarguable, ANTI-HATER BULLET POINTS here that you're free to use while quarreling with THE ENEMY.

1. Bristol is a the sparkly trail left in the wake of the shooting star that is Sarah Palin. They are both God's choices to win. He wants Bristol to win DWTS and Sarah to win President of the USA! Woo-Hoo!

2. If Jennifer Grey wins, it's only because she's a part of the Illuminati. Did you know that noone involved with Dirty Dancing died on 9-11? IT'S TRUE - I SAW IT ON A YOUTUBE VIDEO. I pray that God is casting His vote for Bristol Palin: DWTS Champion 2010 and Sarah Palin Presidant of the USA 2012. YOU GO GIRLS! Woo-hoo!

3. Bristol has a halo around her that's not caused by studio lights but by God. Seriously, she shimmers with the aura of an angel. Her mom is the same way. Sarah is the Mary of the Facebook generation, which makes Bristol the magical dancing Messiah of DWTS.

4. Watching Bristol dance is like getting an early Christmas present from heaven. You know the only thing that would be better? Watching her dance at Sarah's inauguration as the next President of these here United States! YOU GO GIRLS! Woo-hoo!!!

5. Watching Bristol dance reminds me of why God invented legs (NOT evolved them from fish flippers!!!!). SARAH in 2012 WOO-HOO!!!

6. Bristol has more dancing skill in her adorable chipmunk cheeks than Jennifer Grey has in her old Dirty Dancing nose! I wish their was still a ribbon color not being used by the Gays/libs/breast cancer people, cuz I would make a magnet of it that said BRISTOL IS DWTS CHAMPION 2010 and put it on the back of my American made car. I LOVE YOU 2 SARAH!!! wink, wink!!!

7. To everyone who hates on little miss sunshine a.k.a. chocolate scented chipmunk cheeks a.k.a. the future first-daughter of President Sarah Palin a.k.a. Bristol 'sparkles like crystal' Palin: I'll pray for you tonight in the same prayer I say every night for Obama, Kanye West, John Stewart and the lady that wrote the Harry Potter books. MAY GOD FORGIVE YOU!!

8. Bristol deserves to win because her mother is an inspiration and a former beauty queen. I hate Obama too! Woo-hoo!!!

9. Last night while watching DWTS and praying to American Jesus for Bristol's total destruction of all of her competitors, I had a spiritual vision: a Thomas Kincaide painting of Bristol dancing in a snowy glade while fireflies and shooting stars sparkled all around her, reflecting in her beautiful eyes like an anime character watching fireworks on the 4th of July. GO BRISTOL! GO SARAH! IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!

10. Bristol dances across that stage with the same grace that Jesus walked across the water. Sarah is awesome! Woo-hoo!!!

Comments by Sarah Palin groupies on one of her many political websites that tell you how to cheat on the votes:

"Same here, 25 votes..voting tonight has been RIDICULOUS..by now I should have about 50 votes but only 25 now..this is insane..you all know what is going on right, the progressive loons crashed the site"

"I'm at 35 and trying to find another source, LOL."

"I went back on line to cast my last of 35 votes and I got the "page not found" when I voted for B&M. Because I'm not a very trusting person, I decided to use up one vote to vote for someone else. Guess what? It worked with no problem."

"The phone call voting was MUCH easier then the online..online is IMPOSSIBLE, even though I did get 30 votes in..but its just still overwhelmed right now..I cant even get on the site now"

"I agree just keep voting..just did another 20 votes in online and used up both cells phones for the phone voting"

"don't we just get 5 votes? i called my 5 already"

"Yes. But, if you have more than one phone, please call it! Or go online and create as many accounts as you can to vote!"

"40 votes for Bristol! Take that you shitake mushroom filled judges"

A quick internet search will reveal the number of pro-Sarah Palin sites, Bristol fan sites, Bristol's own Facebook, Sarah's Facebook and Twitter (and countless retweets), Tammy Bruce's Twitter campaign (and more retweets) and on and on.

Fox News and others have spoken of 'conspiracy theories' because using that term immediately evokes one to envision crazy, paranoid people cowering in the shadows with their stylish tinfoil hats. Certainly these 'supporters' didn't conspire to do anything in the classic sense but they're doing it just the same.

I never voted for anyone, but Brandy deserved to go with her bad attitude. Not sure why Bristol lasted this long, but NO ONE questioned why Kyle Massey is still in the competition. This is the double standard.

Kyle and Bristol stayed. Both deserved to go a long time ago.

I still think Jennifer Grey will win. The winner makes you forget all the losers. Nonetheless, I'm tempted to vote for Bristol to at least make her the 2nd place winner.

"I can’t imagine being her age and having every stupid act any of us ever do at that age be front-page news." I DON'T THINK ANY OF US ARE GETTING PREGNANT IN HIGH SCHOOL"! THE SHOW IS CALLED "DANCING WITH THE STARS'... WHAT MAKES BRISTOL PALIN A STAR? WHAT SHE ACCOMPLISHED IN HER LIFE, EXCEPT BEING A MOM AT 18 Y.O

What is Al-Qaeda getting a bigger belly laugh from:
The ridiculous pat downs at our aipports?
Liberal America's fascination with Bristol's cha-cha-cha?

Please make her the winner of this stupid contest and get it over with. Then maybe she will go away and the Palins can act like they've actually won something.

Then, when Sarah gets her head handed to her in 2012, she can say, yeah, but we won Dancing with the Stars. lol

Go out and rake some leaves. Your comment suggests you have too much time on your hands.

If Palin wins the DWTS contest an asterisk should follow her name.
* "I can’t dance, but.”
* "I’m a good girl, just ask my mom.”

Don't Wave_it_proud in cold weather.

I vote for Bristol because I'd tap that. I don't mean tap dancing neither.

@WAVE, take your meds.....freak!

I have voted for Bristol because she is not a trained dancer is the only amateur on the show. She is not a HOLLYWOOD type and that impresses me a lot! GO BRISTOL!

Boy, I hope "wave_it_proud" is being sarcastic. Because otherwise, there's plenty of bed space at Bellevue; just come on by.

I voted for her and I am not affiliated with the Tea party.

First of all, I don't watch DWTS and, personally, I don't understand why anybody watches it. But, from what I've seen in the recent coverage of this show, Sarah Palin's daughter has stayed in the competition while other more talented dancers have been eliminated. The clips I've seen of Palin's dancing confirm this. It probably takes a lot of nerve and hard work to put together these routines. Seems to me that the contestants who do the best should be rewarded, while the less capable contestants should be eliminated from the competition. Obviously, the admiring fans of Sarah Palin are calling in to this show and nullifying what the judges are saying. If I were Bristol Palin, I would be embarrassed and ashamed to see other more talented people who worked just as hard being kicked off because my mother's political supporters have no sense of fair play.

The bottom line is:

1. It is not a polictical issue; so don't make it one
2. Bistol can not dance
3. The show uses music that does not fit the dance
4. The show is about POPULARITY not the ability to dance

Dude, people. It's a television show. Get over it. I mean, really, we all have bigger things to worry about no matter what your political and ideological preferences. What does she win, anyway? Better that the Palins win DWTS than the White House.

I think wave_it_proud was being sarcastic.

As with all "reality" shows, it's all about producer manipulation to achieve the highest ratings.

There's a reason they don't announce the audience vote totals on DWTS. It's because they don't always send home the one with the lowest combined vote total. If that person happens to be the one the producers know is garnering them super ratings, they will keep the contestant with the lowest vote totals and send home the next one on the total list.

And when they don't ever reveal the vote totals, or have any way for the public to check/know that the system is accurate, the producers can do whatever they want with the vote totals whenever they want to achieve the highest ratings.

Did you forget the awesome charisma of Elvis?
Have any of you forgotten the beauty of Marilyn?
What is this all about anyway? Is Hollywood losing
that style that we all so dreamed about so long ago
with big dreamy eyes? Isnt up to the public to decide
who they fall madly in LOVE WITH?
I myself find myself attracted to BRISTOL PALIN and
not because of her Mother!!!
I LIKE and ADORE her for something that SHINES in HER!!!
If you can go back to the old HOLLYWOOD DAYS and we
all can choose who we ADORE and drop this POLITICS
then we can create STARS again!!!

I never watch the show but who needs to when it comes to conclusions about Bristol Palin. I mean, someone has to replace Paris Hilton or the accident by the side of the road. We all slow down and look and then whiz by. I wish her well.
