CBS' 'Early Show' shakeup

The early bird doesn't always get the worm.

CBS' "Early Show" is playing musical chairs yet again by replacing its on-air team. Making their exit are Maggie Rodriguez, Harry Smith and Dave Price.

Moving in are Chris Wragge and Erica Hill, co-anchors of the Saturday edition of the "Early Show" since 2008, who are scheduled to take over as co-anchors of the weekday show starting Jan. 3. 

Also joining the team will be Jeff Glor, who has been anchoring the network's Saturday newscast, and Marysol Castro of ABC's "Good Morning America" weekend edition, who will serve as a weather anchor.

Smith will become the primary substitute anchor for Katie Couric's evening newscast, "Face the Nation" and "Sunday Morning."

New roles for Rodriguez and Price are to be determined.

BIG BIG MISTAKE Harry, Maggie and Dave and one of the best combinations early in the morning. Ragge, Hill and Glor cannot come nowhere near them. Hill is abrupt, Ragge is aloof and Glor..no comment. Harry, Maggie and Dave were all down to earth, non affected and informative. Good luck with your new team. I for one will not be watching. My next choice would be GMA

Great move except for Harry. I have been a loyal CBS news watcher for 45 years. When they brought Julie Chen in I switched for the first time to ABC. Julie and Maggie...PURE ARROGANCE. I gave Maggie a chance when they booted Julie but she did not fill the bill. Price is a buffoon. Harry and Erica have secured my viewership of late. Suggest CBS get a new weather person and keep Harry and Erica on point. Harry is seasoned and still has not developed the arrogance. Hopefully a fine professional now Erica will not fall into that trap.

What was CBS thinking??? I can't imagine the Early Show without Harry Smith, Dave Price, and Maggie Rodriguez. Dave Price is awesome! Let's face it - reporting the weather is not exiting, but who else can report weather and make it fun and amusing-I look forwarding to watching him. Although I like the replacements, I am very disappointed. The first thing I do in the morning is to tune into the Early Show. Now when Katic Couric comes on, I change the channel to NBC. The Early Show will never be the same!!!!!

We are faithful watcher of the Early Show and the worst thing you can do is get rid of Harry Dave and Maggie. They are great Your problem is your guest. Get more learning info on and give them a little more time on air don't rush them thru

The new crew was on the morning news here in Houston this morning, and all I can think of is the continuing lack of regard for the older, more mature newscasters...ditch Harry Smith in favor of younger, fresher faces. All of the new anchors are young. The appeal of the seasoned reporter is gone in favor of another pretty face. What a disgusting trend this country has seen. I'll be watching other morning shows now.

I think this is a mistake, change the content of the show if necessary but
not the wonderful hosts that present the information with humor and
intellect. All three are excellent. Wragge is too uninvolved and too
pretty and too rushed in his interviews. I love Erica Hill. Please don't
disrupt a good lineup.

This change will mean a significant change for me as well. I will be changing my morning viewing. I had the privilege to meet each of these three and was impressed by their professionalism. I think Dave Price especially is an "every man" and I had tremendous respect for him. Not sure which network I'll move to....but it is a move away from CBS.

What a dumb thing to do! Harry, Dave, and Maggie make the Early Show. Part of the problem is in the programming they have to present. Give them better material and fewer segments that aren't so rushed. Chris and Erica don't have what it takes to replace these guys. Big mistake. I won't even give it a try. I loved watching the trio in the morning. Dave and Harry were funny and classy people to watch early in the morning and, Maggie was charming. I will not watch this morning show anymore. Thanks for nothing

Dont't care for Chris Wragge, Erica Hill is ok - but no "magic". Will miss Maggie, Harry & Dave - actually watch because of them - not sure what I'll watch now. It just won't be the same.

I might not watch the Early Show that much anymore since Maggie Rodriguez is going to be gone. I hate to say it, but she is a sexy and smart woman who knows what she is doing. She do have a nice pair of legs, and in the right high heels even sexyer. I have no problems with Harry Smith, his not someone that is boring or I would say I don't like how doe this or that. Don't know about other viewers. Harry gets along well people that he works with. Dave Price is good too he sometime add a little humor, but not much and that is good. I never had any problem with them at all. I hope Maggie Rodriguez will keep on doing network news and other stuff and not go to local news, same thing with Harry Smith and Dave Price. What happen to Tracy Smith she was good.

I know the network don't care how the viewrs feel or what they got to say. As long as they do what they think is right, and they never look around the web for people's views before really going about it. But lesser Early Show for me, since it not them anymore. But I will still keep watching the my 5-7 favorite primetime shows and that is it.

I think it is a wise decision to replace Maggie & Harry. However, letting Dave Price go is a huge mistake. I'll miss him dearly and I hope that I'll be able to stomach the new person so I can continue to watch this morning show that I've been watching for some time.
