Law & Order: UK: What appears to be a tragic communications error leaves a police constable (Ashley Rolfe), who is gay, caught in the crossfire of armed drug dealers with no backup, but Brooks and Devlin (Bradley Walsh, Jamie Bamber) begin to wonder whether the “error” was not a mistake at all in this new episode (6 and 9 p.m. BBC America).

Dangerous Encounters With Brady Barr: This new episode ventures into the Surinamese rain forest in search of the electric eel, which packs 600 volts in its 6-foot-long body (6 and 9 p.m. National Geographic).

Medium: Allison has visions that lead her to doubt the guilt of an accused sex offender (Brian F. O’Byrne) (8 p.m. CBS).

School Pride: A Los Angeles middle school receives new athletic facilities while the students get visits from Derek Fisher and Joe Torre (8 p.m. NBC).

Supernatural: Jean (Jensen Ackles) is abducted from a crop circle while investigating a UFO sighting, but discovers that his kidnappers are fairies in this new episode (9 p.m. KTLA). 20/20: In this new episode, Cynthia McFadden interviews Cher about her career and personal life (10 p.m. ABC).

Dennis Miller: The Big Speech: The former HBO talk show host and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member returns for his first HBO stand-up special in four years (10 p.m. HBO).

The Last Wave: Also known as “Black Rain,” Peter Weir’s moody, engrossing and somewhat baffling 1978 occult thriller revolves around an Australian lawyer (Richard Chamberlain) assigned to defend five Aborigines accused of the mystical murder of a sixth (5 p.m. TCM).
