LaBamba will be by Conan's side on TBS

Fans of Team Coco, rejoice! Richie "LaBamba" Rosenberg and his trombone will be joining Conan O'Brien on his new TBS late-night show.

LaBamba will be part of the newly created group the Basic Cable Band, which also will be led by Jimmy Vivino, the former associate music director, arranger, guitarist and vocalist for "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" and "Late Night With Conan O'Brien."

The band also will consist of Scott Healy on keyboards, Mike Merritt on bass, Mark Pender on trumpet, James Wormworth on drums, and Jerry Vivino who sing and play the saxophone and woodwinds.

"Conan" premieres on Nov. 8 at 11 p.m.

conans band beats rickey minor any day

you mean jimmy's brother jerry vivino will play sax, right?

Nobody cares

It's so good to hear that, for the most part, Conan's old band is staying with him. Luv the new name, "The Basic Cable Band."

Too bad Max won't be back, he and Conesy did some funny recurring bits together. But the rest should be able to take up the slack. Luv LaBamba, he acts so stymied by CoCo's antics. And Pender - His whole dome gets so red when he sings and plays his horn!

Can't wait for Conan the Talkerian's return - it'll be great to have his brand of humor back on TV. Now that he's on cable, maybe he'll have more creative freedom to go a little darker - though he doesn't seem the type to go super-dark, but his mischievous sense side might get let loose a little...
