John Stamos insists singing isn’t his forté.

‘I’m just an actor who sings,” he said recently at his home in Beverly Hills. “It’s not my thing. I don’t really like singing, to be honest.”

Minutes later, the 47-year-old actor began tinkering on the keys of the piano that sits in his spacious living room. Time for a midday serenade with a familiar favorite:

“If every word I said

Could make you laugh

I’d talk forever.”

He quickly stopped, more interested in giving a tour of his garden (yes, he gardens!) than carrying a tune.

Crooner or not, singing has certainly been part of the actor’s career — from duets of “Do Wah Diddy Diddy” with one-half of the Olsen twins as Uncle Jesse (founder of Jesse and the Rippers) in the iconic “Full House” living room to belting any other number of songs in the musicals he’s appeared in (‘Cabaret’, ‘Bye Bye Birdie’). Then there’s his gigs with the Beach Boys.

Now the actor is entering the song-driven world of “Glee” as a Dr. Carl Howell, a wannabe-hip dentist who’s dating Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays). His story arc will see him in several episodes, and singing can definitely be expected. But Stamos isn’t convinced his melodic abilities will work in his favor when it comes to sweeping McKinley High’s germaphobic guidance counselor off her feet.

“If it does come down to singing and dancing, Will [Matthew Morrison] is gonna get the girl,” he said. “And I’ll bow out gracefully.”

Should things between Carl and Emma fizzle, perhaps he could start a TV romance with certain guidette with a volumed poof.

“I watched ‘Jersey Shore’ the other night,” he said. “It was the funniest half hour I’ve seen on television in a long time. Snooki … I love her! You couldn’t write a character like that. That show is real. Who they are is who they are. I’m not a frequent viewer but I get why people like it. If they are doing well, good for them. I say live and let live.”
