The Big Bang Theory: This hit comedy moves to its new night with a four-episode mini-marathon (8 p.m. CBS).

The Apprentice: The 16 contestants chosen for the new season of this unscripted series include people who have been downsized from long-term jobs, as well as recent college graduates facing bleak prospects (9 p.m. NBC).

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The raunchy comedy returns for a new season (10 p.m. FX).

The League: In the season premiere, reigning champion hosts the fantasy draft in Las Vegas (10:30 p.m. FX).


Aftermath: Population Overload: This new special imagines life after the world's population grows to 14 billion overnight (7 and 10 p.m. National Geographic).

The Fence: This new special focuses on a fence constructed along the U.S./Mexico border (8 p.m. HBO).

Atlantic City: The Original Sin City: Authors and historians provide a description of the city in the 1920s (9 p.m. HBO).


Hamlet: Laurence Olivier stars as the Danish prince in this 1948 adaptation. Jean Simmons also stars (6:45 p.m. TCM).


Baseball: The Angels visit the Cleveland Indians (4 p.m. FSN); the Dodgers visit the San Francisco Giants (7 p.m. KCAL).

WNBA basketball: Finals, Game 3: The Seattle Storm visit the Atlanta Dream (5 p.m. ESPN2).
