Sarah Ferguson joins OWN network with 6-part series
Move over Weight Watchers commercials! Sarah Ferguson is the latest personality to join OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.
In the six-part series, which is produced by World of Wonder and will premiere in early next year, viewers will watch as the Duchess of York struggles to rebuild her life with the help of some of experts (and familiar faces to Oprah fanatics): Dr. Phil McGraw, Suze Orman and Martha Beck, among others.
“The Duchess will open up about her recent public troubles and explore her lifelong battles with weight, relationships and finances,” said Lisa Erspamer, chief creative officer of OWN, in a press release. “She will look to put the past behind her and move forward to a positive future.”
Those recent public troubles include the royal scandal heard 'round the world. Fergie made headlines recently when she was caught on tape accepting money for access to her ex-hubby Prince Andrew in a video posted on the UK tabloid News of the World’s website.
“I’m doing this because I need to heal my mind, body and spirit,” Ferguson said in a press release. “After 22 years of raising my two amazing daughters, it’s time for me to mother myself. My hope is that sharing my journey will help someone else.”
She joins Rosie O’Donnell, who will make her return to television hosting on the new network with a one-hour daily show based in New York.
OWN will debut Jan. 1 on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel.
