Fantasia Barrino was hospitalized in North Carolina on Monday, following an overdose of aspirin and a sleeping aid, according to her manager Brian Dickens.

The 26-year-old singer was also dehydrated and exhausted when she took the pills but is in stable condition and is expected to be released from the hospital soon, according to a statement issued by Dickens.

Earlier on Monday, a North Carolina woman filed for divorce from her husband and accused him of having an affair with Barrino. According to the statement Dickens released Tuesday, Barrino had a off-and-on-relationship for over 11 months with the man because she believed he had been separated from his wife since the summer of 2009.

‘Fantasia read the [the complaint] for the first time’ Monday, the statement says. ‘She knows some of the allegations...are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know. Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.’

After she read the complaint, Barrino was ‘overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the allegations,’ the statement said.

‘Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor,’ the statement said. ‘’This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured. Fantasia will be stronger, smarter and better for it.’

Barrino is prepping her third album, ‘Back to Me,’ set for release Aug. 24. The album is her first in nearly four years after touring with ‘The Color Purple.’ Her VH1 reality show, ‘Fantasia For Real,’ returns on Sept. 19 for its second season.
