BIG EASY
: On a new episode of “Tavis Smiley Reports” titled “New Orleans: Been in the Storm Too Long,” the PBS host, right, documents efforts to rebuild New Orleans five years after Katrina, at 8 p.m. KCET. With Branford Marsalis.

SERIES

Stealth Rider: In this new series, Hollywood motorcycle stunt rider Jason Britton and his team jump in the bus and tour the country to “steal” stunt riding shots in iconic locations such as the art museum steps of Philadelphia, the Las Vegas Strip, the Golden Gate Bridge or the U.S. Capitol. (5 and 8 p.m. Speed). A second new episode follows at 5:30 and 8:30.

Intersections: Each episode of this new series, also premiering on Speed, compares two different fast machines and offers an intimate look at the people who operate them. Up first: NHRA Champion Tony Schumacher and Navy jet pilot Lt. Aaron Ochalek (7 and 10 p.m.). A second new episode follows at 7:30 and 10:30.

American Masters: The original “Okie from Muskogee” is profiled in the new episode “Merle Haggard: Learning to Live With Myself” (9 p.m. KCET).

Confessions: Animal Hoarding: In the premiere of this new series, a traumatized woman refuses to let her dogs out of the house and a man’s 30 cats shred his home and force his ailing wife to live with her daughter (9 p.m. Animal Planet).

Top Chef: The competition heats up in this new episode in which the remaining chefs are challenged to create a cold entree. James Beard and Michelle Bernstein join the panel as guest judges for this episode (9 p.m. Bravo).

Cougar Town: Jules (Courteney Cox) tries to prove to Grayson that men and women can have platonic friendships in this repeat (9:30 p.m. ABC).

Billy the Exterminator: In the season finale, Billy must catch a dangerous python (10 p.m. A&E).

Work of Art: The Next Great Artist: The contestants are challenged to create an adult masterwork symbolizing the moment their artistic expression first blossomed (10 p.m. Bravo).

Pros vs. Joes: In the unscripted series’ season premiere, current NFL players take on the NBA pros (10 p.m. Spike).

SPORTS

Baseball: The Angels visit the New York Yankees (10 a.m. FSN); the San Francisco Giants visit the Dodgers (7 p.m. FS Prime).
