President Obama
has many "firsts" in his list of accomplishments. Now he's got one more: On Thursday, he will be the first sitting U.S. president to be seen on a daytime talk show.

Obama will appear on "The View" as part of the program's "Red, White & Blue View" campaign, which is dedicated to political guests and discussions. He'll tape his interview on Wednesday; he'll cover topics that include his administration's accomplishments, jobs, the economy, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and family life in the White House, according to an ABC news release.

Executive producer and co-host Barbara Walters, who has been off since she had heart valve replacement surgery in May, will join her co-hosts for the unprecedented interview.

Instead of 'campaigning' he ought to be working on a plan for the Gulf of Mexico. Is this all Obama knows how to do is to campaign?

Good grief, he has just lost an Ocean and he is campaigning?

Wait till I tell Sarah!

"Bush lost a City but Obama lost an Ocean"

What an embarrassment! Have this man any decorum, gravitas or respect for the office??? Just another PHOTO OP and forum for his egregious agenda. Obama should resign, he has made a mockery out of POTUS.

@ jimster120 : You're a little late with your brand of "common sense." Bush's term is over. You did describe Bush perfectly, though! :thumbs up:

@George: Quote: "Maybe they can talk about welfare and how hardworking Americans have to pay for minorities food stamps and health insurance, while us working people get the shaft, nah probably not, they will talk about fake issues to keep the public brainwashed, pathetic."

Wow. Let me guess - you're sympathetic to the Tea Party. I know, I know...what gives it away?

This is nothing more than a marketing campaign. He's doing what any good marketing firm does - get booked on the highest rated shows to pitch your talking points and product. I thought that was Robert Gibbs' job?

I wish Obama would permanently take over Whoopi's position. That would improve the show by miles.

Such mean spirited comments. Obama is not perfect by a long shot, but like all the other presidents, he inherited the situation. He has accomplished quite a lot in his service so far:health care reform, Wall Street reform, and he has only been in office less than two years. While the deficit is high, it was high before, and although health care reform has it's faults, all the presidents before him failed so at least this is something. Give the guy a break. As for appearing on TV, ever hear of Roosevelt's fireside chats? Before there was TV, there was radio, and both mediums are ways to keep in touch with your consituents. How about all you nay sayers run for public office if you think you can do better, ok?

I love the fake outrage here. You're still gonna watch.

I'll save you all some time:
11:00 President Obama is introduced.
11:01 - 11:09 All the women except Hasslebeck throw rose petals before his feet as he walks in. "Hallelujah Chorus" plays in the background.
11:10 - 11:20 They fall to their knees chanting "Not worthy." and "You are our god."
Commercial Break
11:30 - 11:45 He is asked questions like "Tell us why you're the best President that ever was and ever will be?" and "How can we better serve you, my master?"
11:46 Hasslebeck asks him what time it is, resulting in a 10 minute discourse on the history of the wristwatch without ever answering the question.
Commercial Break II
11:50 - end of show Hasslebeck is beaten to death with tea bags for her rude interruption while the other women undress Obama with their eyes and envision all the Old Spice ads with him in place of Isaiah Mustafa.

Isn't this just wonderful? The President of the UNITED STATES has time to appear on "The View"...Pay Attention public.....You are being dupped.......The power of the media, at it's best and worst......It's all about the brainless, popular public... Aren't we a prize??????? And we wonder why we are quickly going in the tank? No real accountability, a pretty face and empty dialogue....Is this what we have come to?

LET'S SELL OURSELVES DOWN THE RIVER......WHILE THE ARROGANT AND QUESTIONABLY INTELLIGENT LIBERAL ELITE SELL THE MINDLESS MASSES ON AN EMPTY PROMISE OF A FREE RIDE........DIDN'T WORK IN RUSSIA, DIDN'T WORK IN LATIN AMERICA AND WON'T WORK HERE AND NOW....THERE ARE NO FREE RIDES, PEOPLE.

I Googled "buffoon" and it sent me here.

You all need to realize..No one will care about how you few the president. Put yourself in his shoes. Don't you understand how hard it is to be a leader of the free world. Sure he gets to do things NONE of you can but that does not mean you can just throw shoes at him. Learn to keep you opinions to yourself. Some of you i can't believe is American.

How disgusting, our country has problems all over the world and this President, that should be impeached, is going to appear on the View.

Ladies, this is too far to go to get better ratings and for me to continue watching. You should be supporting America and Americans, not the likes of obama and his far left mob who clearly hate America and Americans...

Some here are calling it "disgusting" that the President is going to take a couple hours out of his schedule to tape The View, with their disgust being predicated on "there's so much to be done."

Well, what I find "disgusting" is that these same people cannot similarly take a couple hours out of their own daily schedules to keep up with the hard work the President is doing on their behalf. (Watching Glenn Beck doesn't count.)

I will suggest again to all those lamenting about this that they suck it up and go over to Recovery.gov and even Whitehouse.gov. Go to the WH's dedicated blog on the Gulf oil spill. But to do that would threaten the entire scenario that they've allowed Fox News, Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh and whatever the local right-wing radio station is to dupe them into.

Why is hate more important to you than facts? Is hate really so much more preferable than to educate yourself with the facts of what's going on? Do you understand your taxes are lower now than in the last 30 years (they're lower than they were under Bush!); that insurance companies now can't deny you coverage and your kids can stay on your insurance until they're 26 (amongst many other great things in HCR); that your bank and credit card company can no longer scam you willy-nilly? It's *this* president that has championed and signed this legislation. And it benefits all of us - Democrats, Republicans, and even the horrid Tea Party, who started screaming "Taxed Enough Already" just after the middle class received a tax cut and our taxes are lower than ever.

How about hitting the pause button on the hate long enough to find out about legislation at its source (use the Google or go to CSPAN.org and follow their links to PDF files of the original bills) and understand that what you're being told to hate is made up primarily out of whole cloth at Fox News and your local hate radio station.

Or does @George's racist comment in this section really just sum up the reason for the all the hate here, facts be damned?

I'm sorry to be all over these comments, but I am astounded at the willful lack of knowledge of current events that these comments display, such as this one:

"....WHILE THE ARROGANT AND QUESTIONABLY INTELLIGENT LIBERAL ELITE SELL THE MINDLESS MASSES ON AN EMPTY PROMISE OF A FREE RIDE........DIDN'T WORK IN RUSSIA, DIDN'T WORK IN LATIN AMERICA AND WON'T WORK HERE AND NOW....THERE ARE NO FREE RIDES, PEOPLE. "

Damn right it won't work - and you can add to that (in all caps, too), IT ALSO DIDN'T WORK IN BUSH'S AMERICA - WHERE REPUBLICANS REFUSED TO PAY FOR THEIR TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY, THE IRAQ WAR, AND MEDICARE PART D, TO NAME A FEW. THAT'S HOW THEY TURNED A SURPLUS INTO A RAGING DEFICIT!

DEMOCRATS have instituted PAYGO - which means any initiatives they pass have to be fully paid for - healthcare reform is paid for and reduces the deficit over the next twenty years by the amount that Bush and the Republicans ran it up in eight years; funding for the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq are now included in the Dept. of Defense budget; middle class tax cuts are paid for; jobs bills are paid for, etc, etc.

It is REPUBLICANS who are still insisting that Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy not be allowed to expire and that the free ride for the wealthy be extended; Republicans have literally said we don't need to find a way to pay for Bush's tax cuts. (?)

So please direct your "all caps" at the right target - Republicans.
