Comic-Con 2010: 'Nikita' aims to honor its French 'Femme' film roots
The new show, which debuts September 9, hews more closely to director Luc Besson's 1990 French film "La Femme Nikita" than the 1997 USA Network show starring Peta Wilson, about a woman who worked for a shadow government agency that she later tries to topple.
It's also reminiscent of J.J. Abrams' Jennifer Garner spy series, "Alias," but series creator Craig Silverstein wants to be clear: "There will be no Rimbaldi" prophecies and the like.
Silverstein, along with Fonseca and Maggie Q, took questions after screening the series' debut episode, and received queries ranging from casting an Asian woman in the lead role to gun training to martial arts.
