True love for 'True Blood' as the HBO drama is renewed for fourth season

Getprev We are just two weeks into werewolves and vampire politics, and already there is great news coming out of HBO on Monday regarding "True Blood."

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and her supernatural pals will be back for a fourth season. That is, if those werewolves don't get them first.

Production on the current season is still underway. The fourth season will air next summer.

Then we want to see more of the famous Dr. Ludwig ( Marcia DeRousse) in character this season!!

Sadly, TB is not that good of a show anymore. Season 2 was a disaster. Season 3 is a little better, only because they are recognizing their own campiness and just going with it.

But the amount of time that passes between "seasons" on these cable shows is ridiculous. Season 4 next summer? So we get a year off?

The first episode of this season was terrible. The second episode was a little better. But I'm seeing flashes of self-parody in the show, which is a terrible idea. I also think that they're trying to manage too many subplots, even though they say all of them will come together at the end of the season. That's a long time to wait for anything to make sense. The biggest danger for a show like this is that it becomes too self-aware of its own success and starts winking at the audience. That kind of creative cockiness will ruin it.

As for last season, the way that the Marianne story ended was a big WTF. For a year, that character was built up as this evil and powerful creature, but then she let's herself get gored by Sam as a bull because she really just wanted to die for Bacchus. The idea that the whole thing was just a glorious suicide mission was pretty lame and disappointing.

The only good thing that happened was that "Eggs" got shot in the head. The worst actor on the show. Whenever a scene came on with he and Terra, I had to turn off the sound.
