THRIVING: “Mt. St. Helens Back From the Dead” documents the return of plant and animal life to the slopes of the volcano, on “Nova” at 8 p.m. on KCET.


NCIS: Vintage-movie buffs may find contemporary echoes on the classic film “Laura” in this new episode, in which DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) gets overly involved in the search for a murder victim's missing sister (Ashley Scott), a woman has he never met (8 p.m. CBS). 

Dancing With the Stars: The final five couples are revealed “Dancing With the Stars” (8 p.m. ABC). 

NCIS: Los Angeles: The team receives video evidence that Dominic is being held hostage in this new episode (9 p.m. CBS). 

Life Unexpected: Lux's (Britt Robertson) social worker meets with Cate and Baze (Shiri Appleby, Kristoffer Polaha) in this repeat (9 p.m. KTLA). 

Glee: A video surfaces of Olivia Newton-John performing with Sue, in this new episode (9 p.m. Fox). 

Frontline: This new episode examines the big business of higher education, a $400-billion industry (9 p.m. KCET). 

Parenthood: Jasmine and Crosby's (Joy Bryant, Dax Shepard) relationship heats up, leaving them to explain it to Jabbar (Tyree Brown) in this new episode (10 p.m. NBC). 

Independent Lens: In the new episode “Sunshine,” a second-generation single mother comes to terms with the meaning of family (10 p.m. KCET). 

V: Erica, Ryan, Father Jack and Hobbes (Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Charles Mesure) learn that Anna (Morena Baccarin) has sent a shuttle filled with a lethal V tracker team to find them in this new episode (10 p.m. ABC). 

Dinner With the Band: Guests include the Devil Makes Three (10:30 p.m. IFC). 


Casino: Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci star in this 1995 drama (10 p.m. Cinemax).
