KNBC news director resigns
KNBC-TV Channel 4 news director Steve Lange, who has only been at the station for about three months, resigned Tuesday, just a few weeks after coming under criticism for focusing on entertainment elements during newscasts.
Station executives said that Lange, who had replaced retiring news director Robert Long, had decided to return to his independent production company.
"After a great deal of consideration, I have decided to return to the full-time management of my independent production company, Steve Lange Productions," Lange, who also had the title of vice president of content, said in a statement to staffers. "Although I have been with you for only a short time, I want you to know how much I appreciate your work and tireless dedication."
Susan Tully, whom executives called "an experienced journalist and news leader from our Dallas station," will serve as interim news director until a permanent replacement is named.

I'm not sorry Mr. Lange is leaving his post-his hiring decisions have left a lot to be desired! The bumbling, unprofessional Andy Rosa Adler and Alycia Lane have made a mockery of what KNBC used to be. I hope those two soon follow Mr. Lange out the door and let good journalists give us the news!

I didn't think any newscast could be worse than CBS 2, then came Andy Rosa Adler on NBC 4. Whenever I turn on KNBC and see Andy Rosa Adler, I have to quickly change the channel. I have watched several newscasts with her anchoring and she is bumbling idiot. She stumbles over all of her words and comes across as someone who knows nothing about what she is talking about.
Alycia Lane got the boot out of Philly after some shenanigans there. Way to go Mr. Lange! Actually, it's time to go! Thank you for coming to your senses and leaving KNBC. Maybe one day, I will be able to watch again.

Steve Lange did not hire Alycia Lane, although I think he promoted her. I do agree that I hope she is either demoted or let go as she and her revealing outfits have brought the morning show to a new low vacuous level of fluff, giggling and frivality. She is no journalist.

Adios Mister Fluffmeister. Good riddance!

Agree about Alyzia Lane. Hope she is first to go.

I never thought the day would come where Channel 4 executives would trade journalistic quality for dumbed down sex appeal. Then Andy Adler arrived and they handed over the keys to let her anchor the evening news alone. My question - what are they all smoking over there? Aside from the fact that she can barely speak without stumbling, she is inappropriately flirtatious, familiar, unprofessional, sits in her chair as though it were a throne, and a downright bumbling idiot. She should shut up, listen and learn. But my guess is she is too dumb to do that. If my choice is to now go back to ABC and watch the two macho guys i.e. the orange weather man with the annoying hand gestures, and the sports guy who stands with his legs apart like he has 10lbs. bowling balls in his pants both of whom look like they are ready to tackle you, I will shoot myself. Save us all and put Colleen Williams back at the helm. Hire some professional journalists. Get your game on! Put down the pipe, and get rid of Andy Adler – she is ruining, and I mean RUINING the only decent news channel left in Los Angeles.

Ditto sharib (May 28) re: Andy Adler -- couldn't have said it any better. And going from sleeveless to black long sleeved attire hasn't made any difference -- her delivery and overall professional persona still leaves MUCH to be desired.
When KNBC news management comes to its senses and makes journalistic quality important again, I will return to this one time well respected news outlet.
I believe it is an insult to all of the many long time, loyal KNBC news devotees, to suddenly begin hiring personalities, who seem better suited to small town news formats -- where they might have the opportunity to, someday, become good enough to work in a bigger market.

It's hard to take anything she says seriously, as she misuses words constantly and, in general, makes a mockery of the news.

Greetings from New York City.
We're glad to be rid of Any Adler. She was a joke in here in New York. She giggled during all her interviews, always wore very tight shirts so her breasts would stick out for the male sports viewer and of course, wore very short skirts and/or skimpy dresses every night.
No one took her seriously, and serious working women viewed her as an embarrassment.
All we ask is that you please keep her around because we don't want her back here.

I enjoy watching both Ms. Adler and Ms. Lane, newest reporters for KNBC, I enjoy watching people who are enjoying their job and are not afraiding of showing emotions when reading the news. Ms. Adler is always a delight to watch and with all the terrible news out there every day, I'm glad we have them.

It is obvious that the people writing these negative statements are jealous employees of the news station. Lane and Adler are the 2 best reporters in Los Angeles.

Where is everyone going? I just recently started tuning in to channel 4 news in the wee hours of the morning, but Chris Schrubbles (forgive me if the last name is mispelled) hasn't been there. Is he still with channel 4? Let me know now, so I won't waste my time trying to wait, in order to see him because I think channel 11 is on somewhere around that time, too.

I can't watch nbc4 weekend or mornings because of Andy Adler. Why would any station hire someone with such an annoying and distracting speech problem. It's like the "h" "r" and "w" get stuck in her mouth. Can't watch her.
