Fox renews 'Human Target' and 'Lie to Me'
It's busy, busy, busy over at Fox, where executives have been screening pilots and holding scheduling meetings in preparation for Monday's announcements to Madison Avenue.Unlike NBC, which has been busy making official declarations over the past week and also presents its new fall line-up to advertisers on Monday, Fox is delivering its good news behind the scenes.
The network, which picked up two new dramas and two new single-camera comedies, also has renewed "Human Target" and "Lie to Me."
The renewal of "Lie to Me" is especially interesting; it has been benched for months and won't return to the schedule until June 7, and executive producer Shawn Ryan ("The Shield"), who became its show runner in the fall after CBS canceled "The Unit," has stepped down. Ryan has created one of the new dramas, "Ride-Along," which will take him back to the cop genre that gave him his start on FX.With these renewals, it is unlikely that Fox will pick up any more new dramas for the new season. Executives are said to be still considering "Running Wilde," Will Arnett's single-camera comedy, and "Breaking In," which stars Christian Slater.
