Upfronts: CBS orders three new dramas for next fall, including 'Hawaii 5-0' [Updated]

Getprev-1 Congratulations, Daniel Dae Kim. You are the first "Lostie" to get a new job.

And you get to stay in Hawaii! That makes us feel better about the fact you had to see Jin drown a couple of weeks ago.

CBS has begun its march toward announcing its new fall schedule. It picked up the remake of the buzzy "Hawaii 5-O," starring Kim as Chin Ho Kelly, and Alex O'Loughlin. The network's been trying to connect O'Loughlin with a hit show for several years now, could this be the one?

The cast includes: Taryn Manning ("Drive"), Grace Park ("Battlestar Galactica") and Scott Caan ("Oceans Eleven")

Getprev-2 Peter Lenkov ("CSI: New York") wrote the script, and the "Fringe" and "Alias" producing team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman is behind it. Based on the hit CBS show that aired from 1968 to 1980, the new version will center on Steve McGarrett, played by O'Loughlin, who heads a police division in Hawaii that reports directly to the governor.

The network has picked up two other dramas, "Defenders" and "Blue Bloods."

"Defenders"
is CBS' new legal drama starring Jim Belushi and Tanya Fischer ("Life on Mars"). It centers on two charismatic and fiery Las Vegas defense attorneys who go to the mat for their clients. Written by newcomers Niels Mueller and Kevin Kennedy, it was directed by the Oscar-winning Davis Guggenheim. Carol Mendelsohn of the "CSI" franchise is producing it. Jurnee Smollett ("Eve's Bayou") is also in the cast.

From "Southland" writing team Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green comes "Blue Bloods," about three generations of an Irish Catholic family who are all involved in law enforcement in New York City. The cast includes: Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Flex Alexander, Bridget Moynahan and Len Cariou.

CBS previously ordered one comedy, "Mike & Molly," executive produced by Chuck Lorre.

Can't wait for 5-0

Thanks for posting that LOST spoiler!

I'm glad Daniel Dae Kim is in the show but Alex O'Loughlin is the star of Hawaii Five O. No one would know that after reading this article.
