Explorer: This two-hour event hosted by Lisa Ling looks back on the quarter-century history of the ‘Explorer’ series’ including the first look at the undersea wreckage of the Titanic and the rediscovery of the Afghan girl — now a woman — whose haunting green eyes once graced the cover of National Geographic magazine (6 and 9 p.m. National Geographic).

How I Met Your Mother: Ted (Josh Radnor) attends his mother’s (Cristine Rose) wedding, and is disturbed by her overly affectionate relationship with her fiance (8 p.m. CBS).

Trauma: While gathering stories for his book, Glenn (Taylor Kinney) discusses unusual calls with his colleagues in this new (9 p.m. NBC).

Romantically Challenged: This new series revolves around four romantically challenged friends (Kyle Bornheimer, Josh Lawson, Alyssa Milano and Kelly Stables) in their early thirties navigating their way through today’s tricky world of dating (9:30 p.m. ABC).
Damages: Ellen and Tom take matters into their own hands in an attempt to win the Tobin case and Patty Hewes is haunted by the price of her success in the season finale (10 p.m. FX).

Dhani Tackles the Globe: NFL linebacker Dhani Jones continues his global odyssey to participate in beloved national sports pastimes of cultures around the world. In the season premiere, he’s bike racing in Italy (11 p.m. Travel).

Beauty & the Briefcase: A fashion journalist lands a corporate job for a story about dating co-workers in the new TV comedy starring Hilary Duff and Matt Dallas (8:30 p.m. ABC Family).

Hockey: NHL playoffs: The Buffalo Sabres visit the Boston Bruins (4 p.m. VS); the Vancouver Canucks visit the Kings (7 p.m. FSN and VS).
