Pat Harvey switches stations in major anchor shift at KCAL, KCBS
Local duopoly stations KCBS Channel 2 and KCAL Channel 9 announced a major revamp of their news anchor lineups Wednesday, including switching KCAL's main prime-time anchor, Pat Harvey, to the KCBS anchor desk and bumping KCBS anchor Laura Diaz to a solo anchor spot at 6 p.m.
Harvey, the veteran anchor who has been the main face of KCAL since the station launched the country's first three-hour nightly newscast 20 years ago, will co-anchor the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. news with Paul Magers. Diaz had been Magers' co-anchor in those newscasts since he joined KCBS in 2004.
KCBS weekend anchor Sharon Tay will succeed Harvey on KCAL's 8 and 10 p.m. newscasts.
Jackie Johnson, who handled weather for KCAL, will succeed retiring weather reporter Johnny Mountain on KCBS' 5, 6 and 11 p.m. news. Mountain last month announced that he was leaving the station after 32 years on local television. Josh Rubenstein will take over Johnson's KCAL weather duties for the time being.

I really like watching Pat Harvey at 8pm she is a REAL stand up lady along with the late Jerry from the desert to the sea she will be missed.

Jackie Johnson definitely wasn't hired or promoted based on her weather forcasting skills. Definitely glad to see her move on.

This is all "whatever" news. What I really want to know is WTH is happening with channel 5's lineup of news personalities? Why in the blue blazes did they hire Vera Jiminez? She's horrible, along with the other folks on the CBS2 morning show. Ugh!

What about Susan Rico getting canned from the morning news? My wife and I will miss her as we do our morning chores. Her replacement is okay, but there was something really nice and sincere about Susan and we'll miss her and her work with Kent.

I'll be switching stations to follow Pat Harvery. Yes same company owns both stations, but I luv the way Pat delivers the news.

Pat is a pro and can be trusted glad to see more of Sharon and Jackie too. I used to be a channel 4 man but I have switched over.

For crying out loud people! Let's get real here. Most of the folks we're talking about here read from a teleprompter! How much skill does THAT take? I will give some credit to the reporters actually out in the field, but give me eye candy reading that 'prompter anytime. ed71, you're right on the money. More Sharon, more Jackie, etc etc. Pat Harvey, go "drink your 40" as you've eluded to on air in the past!

Geesh, really sorry to see Pat Harvey & Jackie split-up....they were a great
team. Since the change, Ive bee trying to check out other new stations, as
in Channel 5, where there really getting down to the nitty-grity, channel 7 is a
bit to pressy now, ok then I guess if Pat Harvey is over at Ch#2, I'll have to
find her over there.....WOW what a dumb way to get TV Ratings!!
Who ever is incharge, think or take a survey before making a CHANGE.
