'Jersey Shore' hopefuls hit Long Island for casting call

Poofs, tans and hair gel! Oh, my!

"America's Next Top Model"? Psh. These bronzed-hopefuls are aiming to be America's Next Top Situation/Snooki/DJ Pauly D/ ... well, you get the picture.

An army of "Jersey Shore" wannabes descended upon Long Island for Season 3's casting call -- hosted by 495 Productions (the company behind MTV's hit show) and Long Island radio station WBLI -- Monday and Tuesday night at the Crazy Donkey bar.  Ambitious considering there's been no official word on whether there will be a third season.

But even the best fist pumpers weren't guaranteed a chance: "Remember not everyone will be picked and not everyone will get to meet with the casting directors," the notice said on the station's site. Could a future Snooki have been overlooked? Let's hope not.

For now, you can enjoy/loathe the original "Jersey Shore" cast when it returns for a second season, which was filmed in South Beach, in July.

Is this really newsworthy? Why cant this network save their money and come out with some interested shows that people will actually watch, instead of putting a bunch of losers making a full of themselves. Can't wait until this big cable and satellite companies allowed customers to pick and choose the channels they want instead of pushing all these crappy channels that show nothing but crappy shows like these. Maybe is time to boycott the big networks until they come out with something worth watching.

I find the whole thing ridiculous as well as completely insulting...i'm from NJ, born and raised....are any of those people even FROM the Garden State? Why are they casting in Long Island for 'Jersey Shore' hopefuls?
P.s. No self respecting Jersey Girl would hang out in Sleazeside (oh sorry) Seaside Heights anyway. That went out in the 80's...along with the big hair...
