‘Til Death: Joy’s mother (Lainie Kazan) visits in this new episode (7:30 p.m. Fox).

Life: Magnificent wildlife footage and engaging narration by Oprah Winfrey make this BBC offering a must-watch. The first episode, ‘Challenges of Life, ‘ spotlights the ways in which animals have adapted to secure the food they need to survive, including teamwork -- the footage of cheetahs working together to bring down an ostrich is a stunner -- and the use of simple tools (8 p.m. Animal Planet; Discovery; TLC). A second episode, ‘Reptiles and Amphibians,’ follows at 9 on the same three networks.

Desperate Housewives: Angie’s (Drea de Matteo) ex-boyfriend (John Barrowman) visits Wisteria Lane in this new episode (9 p.m. ABC).

Gene Simmons Family Jewels: The KISS frontman is caught between his two worlds -- he’s a family man whose family has just had a health scare and he’s a musician scheduled to depart on a demanding tour with his band -- on the season premiere of the unscripted series (9 p.m. A&E).

Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane: In the season premiere, Kimora is in the final stage of her pregnancy (9 p.m. Style).

Kirstie Alley’s Big Life: The former ‘Cheers’ star premieres a new unscripted series that follows the celebrity single mom as she tries to raise two teenagers in Hollywood (10 p.m. A&E).

Breaking Bad: The improbable drug kingpin (Bryan Cranston) is in remission and in a whole lot of danger, while a heartbroken Jesse (Aaron Paul) is in rehab, following Jane’s overdose, and Skyler (Anna Gunn) is in on the secret but out of Walt’s life, in the season premiere of the gritty drama (10 p.m. AMC).
