One of them takes drugs even though she shouldn’t, and the other doesn’t take drugs even though she should.Showtime’s troubled ladies are back on Monday. ‘Nurse Jackie’ and ‘United States of Tara’ air at 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m, respectively.

When we last saw Jackie (Edie Falco), she was on the floor in a drugged stupor after her life imploded -- her secret lover-prescription drug supplier figured out that she was a happily married mother of two. It wasn’t pretty. Hence: the morphine.

For Tara, it wasn’t much better. After a period off her medications and four of her ‘alters’ surfacing (at very inconvenient times), Tara (Toni Collette) and Max (John Corbett) went to therapy to figure out what happened in her adolescence to cause her personality to split. Turns out, she was raped as a teenager -- but one of her alters was the victim, which means the alternate personalities pre-dated the trauma. Don’t you hate it when that happens?
