CNN's Christiane Amanpour jumps ship to ABC

Getprev-3 Christiane Amanpour is leaving CNN to host ABC News "This Week," beginning in August.

Known for her international reporting for more than two decades, Amanpour replaces George Stephanopoulos who left the show in December to take over as co-host of ABC's "Good Morning America."

Jake Tapper, who has been filling in, will continue to host the Sunday morning program until Amanpour takes over.

ABC is passing on Jack Trapper for this woman? A good looking, young well versed man in exchange for a unattractive anti American woman? A woman who knows nothing of domestic politics? A woman who has travelled the world reporting back how all the ills of the world are the fault of American policy?

Is Ms. Amanpour tired of the international rat race? Or just risking her life every time she covers a story in a hot spot like Iraq or Iran? (It will be difficult to find out who's more treacherous...Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran or Sen. McCain of Arizona.)
