The last time we saw Walt White, two planes were crashing overhead as he sat by his pool.

And that was not the worst thing that had happened to the ‘Breaking Bad’ chemistry teacher turned drug dealer, played by the twice Emmy-winning Bryan Cranston.

Skylar (Anna Gunn) had figured out he’s a big fat liar and left him, taking their newborn baby with her. And his partner in crime and former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), had fallen apart over the drug overdose death (which he doesn’t know Walt witnessed and didn’t stop) of his girlfriend, Jane (Krysten Ritter).

‘He’s a different person than the milquetoast that he was in the pilot,’ Cranston said during a January news conference for the show, which returns to the AMC lineup at 10 p.m. Sunday. ‘We’re getting closer to turning this guy ... from Mr. Chips to Scarface.’

The first episode of the third season is titled ‘No Mas’ and was directed by Cranston.
