AMC picks up 'The Walking Dead'
AMC has picked up its fourth original series, ordering six episodes of "The Walking Dead," which is based on Robert Kirkman's popular comic book series.
The series will air in October as part of AMC's Fearfest, the network's annual marathon of thriller and horror films, AMC announced Monday.
Frank Darabont ("The Shawshank Redemption") wrote and directed the project and will serve as the series' executive producer. Gale Anne Hurd ("Aliens") also will serve as an executive producer.
"The Walking Dead" explores the aftermath of a world overrun by zombies. It follows a group of human survivors, led by a police officer, who journey in search of a safe home. It will be shot in Atlanta, where the novels are set.
