There is new TV happening all around us. The five broadcast networks are furiously casting and producing 86 new pilots for the fall season that will compete for slots on the fall schedule. The decisions will be made in May.

Since we last checked in, ABC recast the lead role in ‘Cutthroat,’ replacing Roselyn Sanchez with Mia Maestro and Fox recast the role of Becca in ‘Most Likely To Succeed,’ replacing Kaitlyn Doubleday with Caitlyn Fitzgerald. Actor Jerry O’Connell has signed up for CBS’ ‘Defenders,’ even though he already has a recurring role on NBC’s drama pilot, ‘Rex Is Not My Lawyer.’ Looks like O’Connell is destined to be a legal eagle.

Additionally, Fox has added two new pilots to its slate. The drama, ‘The Good Guys,’ is described as an action comedy that follows an old-school cop and a modern-day detective in Dallas and combines the storytelling of ‘Rush Hour’ and the narrative devices of ‘Pulp Fiction.’ It stars Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks.

The comedy ‘Wilde Kingdom’ stars Will Arnett as a good-for-nothing rich guy who has wasted his life until a woman from his past, played by Keri Russell, returns and tries to bring out the best in him.

NBC also has a new pilot, ‘Our Show,’ a single-camera comedy about a group of dreamers in a small town who have a unique outlet for their creativity. The cast includes: Nate Corddry (‘United States of Tara’), Jonathan Sadowski (‘Terminator: ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’), Maria Thayer (‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’), Lauren Weedman (‘The Daily Show’), and Mahaley Essam.
