ERUPTION: 'How the Earth Was Made' revisits the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, at 9 p.m. on History.


NCIS: A terrorist group threatens to detonate a dirty bomb in Washington, D.C., in this new episode (8 p.m. CBS).

Lost: The season opener of the quirky series is preceded by a special that recaps the series to date and offers a preview of the final season (8 p.m. ABC). The two-part season premiere follows at 9 and 10.

American Idol: Auditions continue in Denver (8 p.m. Fox).

Nova: In an episode title "Ghosts of Machu Picchu," archaeologists explore the Peruvian ruins and unearth burials of people who built the remote site (8 p.m. KCET).

Frontline: The new episode "Digital Nation" examines how the World Wide Web and digital media transform the way people work, learn and interact (9 p.m. KCET).

Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal: The season finale brings together three 11-year-old girls who are overwhelmed by what they believe are psychic abilities (9 p.m. A&E).

The Good Wife: Alicia (Julianna Margulies) represents a wealthy man being tried in civil court after being acquitted in criminal court of murdering his wife (10 p.m. CBS).

The Michael Vick Project: This new unscripted series revolves around the controversial professional football player who plead guilty to running an illegal dogfighting ring (10 p.m. BET).

Little Miss Perfect: This new episode follows a mother and her 7-year-old daughter, who have been doing pageants for years (10 p.m. WE).

Paranormal Cops: In this new episode renovations at a restaurant and bar are brought to a halt when alleged paranormal activity scares away workers. (10:30 p.m. A&E).


College basketball: Mississippi at Kentucky (4 p.m. ESPN); Miami at Wake Forest (4 p.m. ESPN2); Michigan State at Wisconsin (6 p.m. ESPN).

Pro basketball: The Clippers visit the Chicago Bulls (5 p.m. FS Prime).

Hockey: The New York Rangers visit the Kings (7:30 p.m. FSN).
