Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains: The latest incarnation of the hit competitive reality series brings back 20 memorable players from past seasons. Jeff Probst returns as host (8 p.m. CBS).

The Vampire Diaries: Stefan (Paul Wesley) helps Bonnie and Elena (Katerina Graham, Nina Dobrev) out of a hazardous situation. Jasmine Guy guest stars (8 p.m. KTLA).

Modern Marvels: This new special offers a behind-the-scenes look at the technology behind the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, including the bobsled run, ski jump and speedskating (8 p.m. History).

Past Life: In this new drama, Dr. Kate McGinn (Kelli Giddish) and Price Whatley (Nicholas Bishop), a former New York police detective, team up to solve decades-old mysteries that are resurfacing in the lives of contemporary subjects (9 p.m. Fox).
