DogTown: Behavior consultant Sherry Woodard attempts to start a program training shelter dogs in search and rescue in this new episode (5 and 8 p.m. National Geographic).

Smallville: While on a date with Lois (Erica Durance), Clark (Tom Welling) becomes infected by gemstone kryptonite, which has wish-fulfilling properties (8 p.m. KTLA).

Bill Moyers Journal: This new episode examines how campaign contributions may corrupt the judicial process (9 p.m. KCET).

The Ricky Gervais Show: Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant get animated (literally) in this new series built around their often-surreal conversations with friend and colleague Karl Pilkington (9 p.m. HBO).

The Life & Times of Tim: Steve Dildarian’s offbeat, animated comedy series returns for a new season, chronicling more adventures of a hapless New Yorker in his 20s (9:30 p.m. HBO).

The Haunted: A couple call in a paranormal team after finding words spray-painted on their house and hearing animal-like growls in the season finale (10 p.m. Animal Planet).

Funny or Die Presents: The Internet comedy site makes the leap to television with this new series (midnight HBO).
