Fox News gives anchor Megyn Kelly her own two-hour show

Megyn Kelly

In a rare programming change, Fox News is giving morning anchor Megyn Kelly her own two-hour daily show when she returns Feb. 1 from maternity leave and tapping Martha MacCallum to replace her as Bill Hemmer’s new partner on the 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. PST show “America’s Newsroom.”

“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to develop two valuable assets in Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly — dividing their journalistic expertise across our daytime lineup will only serve to broaden our strength as a network,” Michael Clemente, senior vice president of news editorial, said in a statement.

Kelly’s new show will air from 10 a.m. to noon PST, replacing “The Live Desk,” which had been anchored by MacCallum and Trace Gallagher. (Gallagher will continue serving as a reporter and anchor across the network’s programming.) Kelly, a former litigator, will keep doing her legal segment, “Kelly’s Court,” in her new program, and continue her regular guest appearances on “The O’Reilly Factor” every Thursday for “The Kelly File.”

“Although I will miss starting my mornings with Bill, I’m thrilled to embark on this new opportunity and look forward to delivering the news during what is shaping up to be one of the most historic news periods of our time,” she said.

Hemmer said: “I couldn’t have asked for a better co-anchor in Megyn but I’m excited to lead America’s Newsroom in 2010 and continue to kick off our daytime news lineup every morning.”

Yipee! Another Republican blonde bimboo on Fox! Can't wait!

I disagree, she is and was the only female on the Fox lineup who didn,t talk or dress like a bimbo. She is smart ,a clear reasonable thinker, she dresses well, never showing cleavage or too much leg and never never acts "too cute" or flirtatious.I for one will be glad to have something serious to watch during those hours.

I am really excited about Megyn Kelly getting her own show; GREAT! Cannot wait! Sure have MISSED her while she has been out on maternity leave.

America's Newsroom with Hemmer and Kelly was the best!!! Best of luck to both!!! Roberta, you don't even know what your talking about. Go drink some more kool-aid.

I will miss The Live Desk. I love the format and Trace is my second favorite Fox anchor (of course Sheppard is the best!). I love the chemistry between Trace and Martha. Not thrilled with Bill Hemmer...but maybe Martha will make him more watchable. I think Megan is great. She is smart and well-spoken. But I think a 2-hour mid-day show needs two anchors. Overall, I'm not looking forward to it. I didn't vote for Obama because I didn't want "change". I wish Fox would just leave things alone.

My wife and I have been watching American Newsroom faithfully the last 10 years. Megyn has been by far its star. We have both admired her quick mind, engaging personality and willingness to mix it with interviewees. Her down-to-earth perspectives, willingness to share her life experiences and family insights (re Nanna, Doug, Yates, brother Pete, parents, et al) with viewers give her a dimension seldom seen on television in any format. While this time slot hits Colorado at an off time for viewing (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), at least for me, will now give us a reason to turn on TV over the noon hour to watch Megyn in her new gig. We wish her the very best in every way. For our money, she has no peer among female news personalities across all of TV Land, whether on cable or broadcast networks.

Good for Megyn. She is a top notch reporter and I look forward to her new program. I have been wondering when she would be back from maternity leave. Hemmer and she were very good together and now I will watch both programs.

I am so happy for Megyn Kelly since she is by far the smartest female on television: Network or Cable. I wish... (please, please), that Patty Ann Brown would take over as Bill Hemmer's co-host. She is classy, smart as a whip and easy to listen to plus lovely to look at in an understated way (my favorite way), and a hoot when she is a guest on Red Eye. McCallum's voice grates so early in the morning. I like her but it is the wrong time for her and she will not last. Thank goodness the overly made up (raccoon's come to mind) Jamie Colby whose dark roots are an eyesore; a girl who works real hard at bimbo-dom which is shameful because she is smart but apparently insecure, did not make the morning cut with Hemmer. Her constant posing and trying to get in views of her rather unexceptional legs are silly and she can not be taken serious, especially with her mono-toned Jersey voice. Now it is time for an African-American CONSERVATIVE Show on Fox. I love the Glenn Beck Show when he has the Conservative African-American discussion groups. I am a German-Shawnee-Scottish American and I learn so much from Beck's discussion panels and it is comforting to see so many middle-class, Conservative African-Americans with my values. Thanks for letting me vent.

Memo to Roberta: Megyn HAS been on Fox for several years. And we all appreciate your 'come to the picnic late as usual' mentality, not knowing any history of Fox, yet blathering your ignorance. Kelly is an attorney and well spoken advocate for women. Bet you didn't know that.

But then again, you have Rachel Maddow to look up to. Shall I say "another liberal butch-haired lesbo?"

Congratulations to Megyn Kelly. I agree with Marv Wooten's comments regarding Megyn's abilities and qualities and look forward to the show.

Loyal Fox News follower. America's Newsroom is my favorite show and I will really miss Bill and Megyn together and their style in reporting the news. Much deserved for Megyn to get her own show. Classy, smart and well spoken anchor! Smart business decision to split them up to gain viewers. I listen on XM radio daily and glad Megyn's show will be on in the afternoon. I will be tuning in!!

Yipee! Another Democratic pseudo-intellectual! For the record, Roberta, you spell bimbo with just one "o."

Trace and Jon Scott are my favorite day time news shows. Megan is OK, just give her a different time slot and bring Trace back.

Sad to hear that Megyn won't be co-hosting with Bill anymore...loved the way they played off of each other. I was looking forward to her return. I am happy for her that she has her own show and in a time slot that probably better suits being a new mom.

I wondered what happened to Megyn Kelly as I always try and turn on the FOX morning news with Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly. I really thought they were good together and miss the camaraderie between the two. I'll have to record Megyn's show (since I work) to see if I like her without Bill. Megyn has a strong presence and though I don't always agree with a few of the issues, I do feel she is a strong voice for FOX news. Can't help but love Bill Hemmer though. He's the greatest!

Congratulations Megyn on your new baby boy and your new show. We wish much happiness. I know your new show will be great. You are very intelligent, classy, and have a fire that makes whatever you're talking about so interesting. Miss you on America's Newsroom in the morning. My husband and I now just keep switching stations.:( Hope Fox can find someone with your whit and energy to team up with Bill. You two were so good together. Good Luck!

Are Martha Mccallum and Megan Kelley sisters. They look so much alike.
