Could Mercedes be getting a love interest? Or a nemesis?

It’s being reported that the third role the show is casting for next season is of an R&B-singing teen, or as ‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy said, ‘a male Mercedes.’

Now we here at Show Tracker hope this means that our favorite big-voiced diva is getting a love interest, even if Murphy was coy about what the newbie on the block would be doing. Maybe there is a sing-off? Maybe they fall in love? Or hate? Also, will this bump Dijon Talton, who plays Matt Rutherford (you know the other African American kid who fills out the background).

In case you were wondering about the other roles and didn’t know already, Kurt will be (finally) getting a boyfriend. Murphy promises a power couple and the twosome will be out, proud and glamorous. We like. Rachel will also have some stiff competition when an Eve Harrington-esque rival shows up to McKinley. We really like.

Previously we announced the show would be searching to fill the three roles “American Idol” style in February, with the auditions being open to amateurs as well as professionals between the ages of 16 and 26.

The casting search and process will be chronicled in a multi-part special that will air leading up to the premiere of the series’ second season this fall, when the new cast members will be revealed.
New episodes return April 13, when the show moves to Tuesdays. Click here for up-to-date information on the submission process for ‘Glee.’ What do you all think about the three new roles for next season?
