It's a shame that you two are baffled by David Duchovny's nomination for best actor in a comedy. It's not a male vs female mindset at all. I believe Californication has just as many, if not more, female fans than male. I believe the difference lies in the boundaries of what some people consider as acceptable standards for humor and life's situations. What I mean to say is, some people find dark humor to be the best kind of humor, whereas other people find it offensive and crossing some invisible line. But regardless of your personal viewpoint towards Californication, there is no doubt that David Duchovny is a fantastic actor in the role of Hank Moody. You may have to be prepared to be baffled again, as he has an excellent shot of actually winning in this category.
