Actor Robert De Niro, rock legend Bruce Springsteen, funnyman Mel Brooks, jazz great Dave Brubeck and opera star Grace Bumbry are feted -- and presented with some colorful neckwear -- at ‘The 32nd Annual Kennedy Center Honors.’(CBS, 9 p.m.) WEDNESDAY

The documentary series ‘P.O.V.’ presents ‘Patti Smith: Dream of Life,’ an intimate portrait of the artist, poet and high priestess of punk rock -- and birthday girl -- shot by fashion photographer Steven Sebring over an 11-year period. (KCET, 9 p.m.) THURSDAY

Robert Downey Jr. portrays The Times’ very own Steve Lopez in the 2009 docudrama ‘The Soloist,’ based on Lopez’s book about his burgeoning friendship with a homeless man (Jaime Foxx) who just so happens to be a classically trained musician. (HBO, 8 p.m.)

BLOW’D UP

The new six-part docu-series ‘The Imploders’ tracks the explosive exploits of the Idaho-based Kelly family, demolitions experts extraordinaire, as they travel from job site to job site laying waste to condemned buildings and other obsolete structures. (TLC, 10 p.m. Wed.)

WE LOVE A PARADE

Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards return to host the 121st ‘Tournament of Roses’ in Pasadena. You’ll see amazing floats, snazzy marching bands -- and, we hope, the usual clear and sunny weather that makes us the envy of the nation. (KTLA, 8 a.m. Fri.)
