‘Doctor Who’: BBC America salutes David Tennant, who ends his run as the science fiction hero tonight, beginning with a special clip episode that recalls Tennant’s time in the TARDIS (5 and 8 p.m.), followed by Tennant’s finale as the good doctor (6 and 9 p.m.). Then ‘Doctor Who: Inside Look’ (7:20 and 10:20 p.m.) takes viewers behind the scenes of the long-running series. Finally, ‘The Graham Norton Show’ (7:30 and 10:30 p.m.) dedicates the half-hour to ‘Doctor Who.’

‘Saturday Night Live’: James Franco hosts with musical guest Muse (11:29 p.m. NBC).

SPECIALS

‘Devil’s Bible’: A team of scholars and scientists embarks on a quest to unravel secrets of a large medieval manuscript, claimed to be filled with demonic spells and satanic images, derived from the pact a doomed monk made with the devil (6 and 9 p.m. NGC).

‘Samantha Brown’s Holidays in New York’: Home for the holidays in New York City, Samantha explores Italian operatic dinners, Japanese origami Christmas trees and more (9 p.m. Travel).

MOVIES

‘Elf’: Will Ferrell stars as a human who was adopted by elves as an infant and grows up thinking he’s just a large version of his adoptive father (Bob Newhart). James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, Daniel Tay and Edward Asner co-star in the 2003 comedy (8 p.m. CBS). ‘The Santa Clause 2’: Eight years after he first played the part, Tim Allen returned as the divorced dad magically transformed into Father Christmas in this 2002 Disney comedy sequel. The newer Santa must save the holiday by finding a Mrs. Claus -- fast. Elizabeth Mitchell also stars (8 p.m. ABC).

‘The Three Gifts’: While their orphanage is renovated over the holidays, three boys (Dylan Sprayberry, Alex Zubarev and Spencir Bridges) are taken in by a couple (Dean Cain, Jean Louisa Kelly) in this new TV movie (8 and 10 p.m. Hallmark).
