OPERATIC: In the new documentary "Rufus Wainwright: Prima Donna," the eccentric musician prepares his opera, "Prima Donna," and recalls his childhood demons and obsession with opera, at 9 p.m. on Sundance.

SERIES

Inside the Actors Studio: Kate Hudson has her turn to chat with host James Lipton (7 p.m. Bravo).

The Sing-Off: Boyz II Men and Bobby McFerrin perform before the winning group is revealed in the season finale (8 p.m. NBC).

Intervention: This episode profiles a singer-songwriter who once was part of a successful band, until he began dabbling in drugs and alcohol to fuel his creative spark and his band fell apart under the weight of his drug use (9 p.m. A&E).

The Closer: Brenda (Kyra Sedgwick) ponders the case of a police officer who denied being a victim of spousal abuse before her husband was shot by a cop answering a domestic disturbance call. Jon Tenney stars and Mary McDonnell guest-stars in the new episode "Dead Man's Hand" (9 p.m. TNT).

The Big Bang Theory: The holidays aren't very merry for Leonard (Johnny Galecki) when a handsome colleague (Michael Trucco) begins dating Penny (Kaley Cuoco), while Sheldon (Jim Parsons) drives everyone nuts trying to master the nuances of gift-giving etiquette (9:30 p.m. CBS).

Castle: As Halloween looms, Castle and Beckett (Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic) go to a graveyard after the body of a young man sporting vampire fangs is discovered with a wooden stake through his heart in this repeat (10 p.m. ABC).

Make My Day: This hidden-camera series follows an unsuspecting person who is enjoying a day filled with lucky coincidences and even chance encounters with favorite celebrities, never guessing for a second the whole thing is set up for a TV show (10 p.m. TV Land).

I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown! This 2003 animated special features the Peanuts gang in another yuletide season (8 p.m. ABC).

MOVIES

State of the Union: Frank Capra directed this witty 1948 social comedy about a self-made aircraft tycoon (Spencer Tracy) pushed to run for the Republican presidential nomination and encouraged to enlist the help of his estranged wife (Katharine Hepburn). Adolphe Menjou, Margaret Hamilton, Van Johnson and Angela Lansbury also star (5 p.m. TCM).

Santa Baby 2: Christmas Maybe Santa Claus (Paul Sorvino) decides to retire, and his daughter (Jenny McCarthy) must choose between taking over the reindeer reins or continuing with her fast-paced life in the outside world in this 2009 TV comedy (9 p.m. ABC Family).

SPORTS

College basketball: Sonic All-College Classic: Oklahoma versus Texas-El Paso (3:30 p.m. ESPN2); La Salle versus Oklahoma State (6 p.m. ESPN2).

Football: The New York Giants visit the Washington Redskins (5:30 p.m. ESPN).

Pro basketball: The Clippers visit the San Antonio Spurs (5:30 p.m. FS Prime).
