Broadway beauty Idina Menzel heading to 'Glee'?

Iq6b48knTalks of Broadway star Idina Menzel doing a spot on “Glee” appear to be reality.

Menzel, who recently became a first-time parent with husband Taye Diggs, is in negotiations to recur on the hit series when it returns in April.

Fans of the show know she’d be following in the footsteps of previous guest star Kristin Chenoweth, her costar in the hit musical “Wicked,” which landed Menzel a Tony.

With a striking resemblance to “Glee” star Lea Michele, fans were hoping Menzel would play the long-lost mother of Rachel, portrayed by Michele.

If Menzel accepts the role, she’ll be playing the choir director for New Directions’ rivals, Vocal Adrenaline – a role that could have Menzel appearing on the remaining nine episodes of the season.

Theater buffs will also have their fix when Jonathan Groff, who costarred opposite Michele in the Broadway production of "Spring Awakening," does a five- to six-episode story arc as the lead male vocalist of Vocal Adrenaline, and a potential love interest for Michele's Rachel Berry.

Do we smell jealously from Finn a-brewing?

Spring is shaping up to be great for Gleeks. With an all-Madonna episode in the works and Menzel swooping in as Schuester's rival, how easy will it be to root for the ole gang of McKinley High? Discuss below.

Dear New Directions,

I love you, but if Idina directs Vocal Adrenaline, I will have a very hard time rooting AGAINST them. Don't take it personally.

Love,
Sarah
