'90210': 'Gilmore Girls' alum Scott Patterson joins cast as Liam's dad
In another casting coup for “90210,” Show Tracker just got confirmation from The CW that former “Gilmore Girls” actor Scott Patterson has been cast as Liam’s biological father.
“90210’s” show runner, Rebecca Sinclair, was a producer on “Gilmore Girls,” and the industry has been looking for her to bring that magic to the new ZIP Code. The media bounced around Scott Patterson's name in 2008, as “90210” was still firming up its cast, to play Wilson dad Harry. That role, of course, went to Rob Estes. This news follows another high-profile casting earlier this year, when Sinclair brought on former model and film actress Kelly Lynch to play Ivy’s mother.
Patterson spent seven years on “Gilmore Girls,” his character in a tumultuous relationship with lead character Lorelai Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham.
What kind of magic can he bring to “90210”? “Gilmore Girls” and “90210” fans, let us know in the comments section below.

While it will be great to see Scott Patterson on TV again, it's too bad it will be on puerile tripe like "90210." Retch. And the CW? The network for anorexic shopoholics? Double retch.
But I trust Scott will 'act well his part.' I'd watch him in anything, but it sure would be nice to see him back on a quality show. Would love to see him guest star as a nemesis for Jack in "Thirty Rock". Or how about a spot on "Glee"? How about anything from HBO? Come on, producers!

Nogodsnomasters, you're a wretch.
The show is already run by a former Gilmore Girls producer and have turned things in a better direction for 90210 compared to how Sachs and Judah handled the series in its first season. And the show is not even about what you call as "anorexic shopaholics", so you mean Smallville and Supernatural which happens to be in the CW as well are also shows made for "anorexic shopaholics". Ah, you're living in a different universe my friend.
Try watching the first 12 episodes of 90210 season 2 and let's see who got the last laugh.

sounds good to me! two sexy intriguing additions to 90210 - Kelly L is a big 'get' as a gorgeous hipster indie film actress + LOVED her on L-Word and also loved Scott P on G Girls. ps 90210 IS much better lately!this is why! Go Rebecca!

Jay, I've got to hand it to you, that was a great comeback (I'm a fan of wordplay; maybe you should write for the CW). :) Still, I am critiquing a show and a network, not you personally. Food for thought...
Anyway, improving or not, I stand by my assessment of 90210. I watched the last episode when I heard Scott P. was joining and I found it painful. Believe me, though, I will watch any episode that features Scott Patterson. He will make it worthwhile.
As far as my sharps digs at the CW, I'll admit I shouldn't paint a whole network with one brush, but as soon as the WB became the CW it seemed to me to become about courting a specific demographic to an extreme. That network inherited great shows like Gilmore Girls and, to a lesser degree, (IMO) Everwood. They did not do nearly enough to keep these beloved, high-quality shows going.
The CW botched the promotion and support of the well-written, critical darling "Aliens and America." That show wittily satirized some of the values other shows glamorize and even celebrate. I am well aware that the television industry is a business, but I take umbrage at networks that, in my mind, cater to the lowest common denominator because it's easy and profitable. Intelligent shows can thrive when given a chance.

I'm not really thrilled with Scott Paterson being a part of 90210... Gilmore Girls was a quality show - something creative, fun, unique, not the usual crap you see on TV that's only about b!tchy girls, drugs, etc. 90210 isn't... not saying it's a horrible show, or not fun to watch, it is, but it's like any other TV Drama.
Gilmore Girls actors should be in something more quality, something of more substance... On the other hand, I am excited to see him in this kinda, I really can't image him as any other person than Luke! Or anything other actor/actress as another character than who he/she is on Gilmore Girls, especially Lauren Graham... I mean, she IS Lorelai! Because Alexis Bledel changes her look SOOO much (just look at her throughout the seasons of GG), I can imagine her as a different role, but definitely not Luke!
NOGODSNOMASTERS - I agree with you.

Scott Patterson...yum! I adored Gilmore Girls until it was ripped to shreds on the 7th and final season. CW network really screwed up on that one! 90210 is a show that I sat down to watch out of morbid curiosity. Now it is my guilty pleasure and Mr. Patterson will add to my delicious guilt just making it all that more delightful. I agree that it would be great to see him in something with meat to it and show his genuine talent, but hey, Scott is so easy on the eyes and natural with his acting, I'd watch him paint a wall. Hmmm..another show perhaps? Good for you Scott and congratulations. And smart move 90210!

First of all, I completely disagree with the thought that CW's target aim is "anorexic shopaholics". That is a bogus stereotype, as the CW does offer some pretty decent T.V. series, such as The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Gossip Girl. 90210 may be a bit after school special, but I'm glad that Scott Patterson will be joining the cast. This should make things a bit more interesting. Well done, 90210 casters. Well done.

Finally Scott Patterson is coming back from doing those awful "Saw" moveis. He will bring more to the cast of "90210" to an aldreay improved one...this season is a thousand times better then the last. Thank gosh for the "Gilmore Girls" producer.

It seems to me like a lot of former celebrities are having to go back to the CW well.
