[Updated] Carrie Prejean accuses Larry King of being 'inapproprate' and then fails to walk off his set

You know that video that's going viral today -- trending on Google and Twitter, thanks in to large part to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton -- of Carrie Prejean calling Larry King "inappropriate" on his talk show last night and threatening to leave?

We'd like to call it "inappropriate" too.  And maybe even throw a "misleading" for good measure. In the entertaining three-minute clip, Prejean becomes agitated when King repeatedly asks her why she dropped her claims of libel, slander, and religious discrimination against the Miss USA pageant. TMZ has reported that Prejean decided to strike a deal only after the lawyer for the pageant revealed a homemade sex tape of a 17-year-old Prejean.

King wasn't asking about the particulars of the settlement, just why she settled, mind you.  But Prejean repeatedly called him "inappropriate," took off her microphone, and appeared to want to leave. She never really owned that moment, we should add. She fumbled, looked around the room, and stayed sitting in the chair, even though she had removed her mike.

And then after the commercial break -- which you don't see on the clip that hit cyberspace last night -- Prejean is still in her seat. She didn't go anywhere. There was still her new book, "Still Standing" to promote.  So she forgave King for his other violation -- Prejean's publicist had set some rules: no phone calls and King had turned to his phone lines when she refused to answer his "inappropriate" questions.

The air was cleared, King apologized saying his producers didn't warn him of the no-calls rules, and King got to the new matter at hand: Prejean's future.

The following is an excerpt from that portion of the conversation:
King: What are you going to do next?

Prejean: Oh, my gosh. I'm just so excited to be, you know, promoting this book. I'm so excited to be an author now. It's really great that -- I'm 22 years old, and I think that I've accomplished so much. And I think that there is definitely a message out there to spread to young women and that is, you know, never do anything that you wouldn't want your biggest fans to see or, you know, never do anything that, heaven forbid, your dad would see.

So I think that there's definitely a message out there to spread to young women, to just be careful of what they do. And you can definitely learn from my mistakes.

King: So you have some regrets?

Prejean: Excuse me?

King: You have some regrets?

Prejean: Well, obviously the choices I made when I was a teenager, you know, that doesn't reflect who I am today. So yes, there were mistakes in my life. And no one's perfect. And I'm definitely owning up to those mistakes. As far as the pageant goes, no, I have no regrets.

Does Larry? We've asked him for a comment. We'll report if he appropriately gets back to us.

[Updated at 12:21 p.m.: King doesn't want to comment, but he tweeted a link to his interview, so it doesn't seem he's got any remorse. On that note, King's spokesperson points out that the reason King was so confused when Prejean yet again accused him of being "inappropriate" for taking calls from viewers -- which he does every night -- is that there were no preconditions to the interview. Prejean was making that up, King's spokesperson said. And now it seems Prejean has been caught in another fib by TMZ.]

Does anyone really believe that this numbskull actually wrote a book ? Between her and Sarah Palin, they couldn't write a cartoon !
Why is it that Conservatives are always stupid hypocrites ? Always, the list is miles long of the Family Values espousing right wingers who are nothing like they want to force all of us to be.

Carrie Prejean, like everyone else, absolutely has the right to freely speak her mind and she need not be condemned for it, i.e., sent to jail, etc. But everyone who hears & sees what Carrie Prejean expresses also has the RIGHT to have their opinion about it (and express it), whether Carrie Prejean likes it or not.
If you say or do things that appear to be stupid and idiotic to some people, and if they want to tell you what they think of what you say or do, that is their right, albeit rude. If Carrie Prejean doesn't like the kinds of response/reactions she gets, she should either ignore what she hears, or stop saying and doing things that gets her those responses. Our society at large does not like discrimination, attacks and criticisms based on important things like race, sex, sexual orientation, age and religious choices. However, it is still open season on narcissism, stupidity and ignorance: and those who hold (and love to show) all these characteristics remain the largest targets.

And another thing... Why are people so willing to give a pass to someone who does something as stupid as making a sexually explicit tape at age 17, but they'll skewer them alive for doing it at age 18 (or 20)? Do you really think that people have some big, grown-up epiphany the day they turn 18 and legal, that suddenly causes them to make nothing but correct judgments and actions for the rest of their lives? Common sense and our overcrowded jails prove that not to be the case. Whatever morals you have at 17 are by and large the same morals you have at 22. They don't change much between your teens and early 20's.

I say without hesitation that at age 17, Prejean was a putrid, selectively moral, dangling scab on a variety of today's societal wounds, and she's still the same thing, except now she has enough fame to have an audience for it. And, if we weren't still all talking about this, she wouldn't have the fame, or perhaps infamy is more correct here, to keep this going for as long as it has. A person can't be famous without idiots like us giving it to her.

That said, I hope mine are the last words ever written about her, anywhere.

Ok so she just made a idoit of herself and why doesnt she just tell us everything that she has done with any of her boyfriends because will come out and then she will be in the new again. I wonder if she is leaking this stuff so that she can keep getting her 15 min of fame. get over yourself and just face the facts that you or nasty and you will never amount to anything

When her sex tapes are properly edited together (with classy musical cues that help with the emotional transitions between sessions), hopefully then Carrie will donate her part of the profits to form a non profit organization that tapes OTHER twenty year old beauty pageant contestants that want to have sex for four days on camera in San Diego.

Think about it Carrie!

It's called giving back!

And my final word on this is, well, this: IDIOTS!

We are all idiots, L. King for having her on his show, C. Prejean just for being herself, the media for continually allowing and/or thrusting her into the limelight, we who post our comments on this and other websites for giving her even a passing thought, and the American public in general for eating it up like vultures (not vulchers as some other nimrod wrote on this board).

So you can bet that her book will be a big seller. Sarah Palin's book is already on the top 10 pre-order list at BarnesandNoble.com. Proof enough.

I personally disagree with her stance on gay marriage, but believe in her right to express her opinion. And I think she was "dumped" because of her opinion.
I also believe she should stay off the interview circuit. She was much more sympathetic to me before I saw and heard her speak. She comes off defensive and bitchy.
I'm not sure what she says in her book, but I am sure I don't care.

Obviously jeebus was just testing her character and she failed that test once again! seriously this woman is a serial liar and dumb as a fence post. I am getting a twiested sense of pleasure in watching her continue to humiliate herself in front of the entire country. i could care less what her views are on gay marriage, my issue is how dumb she is and who cares about Miss USA or Miss America or Donald Trump for that matter. I hope they ALL fail!

Gay man here...although i disagree with Carrie's beliefs, i think she has the right to make her comments against gay marriage. I am surprised at how immature she was on Larry King Live. So many people have sat on that seat and answered hard questions in the past without threatening to walk off and then sulking about it later. Why couldn't she just say "no comment" or "I'm unable to answer that" again. Her whole claim to fame is that she was the former Miss America that lost her crown and upset that idiot Perez Hilton; you would think she would know a question about anything related to the pageant would be asked because he has done nothing else in her life go gain publicity.

I'm also confused why she has a book. She was in a beauty pageant and now she is acting like she is "ms family values," beside stating she is against gay marriage, what conservative values has she shown in her life. I think she is doing other conservatives a disservice by playing the role of a victim in this case. I'm so tired or people not living the lives they want everyone to ascribe to. From my perspective a women makes a sex tape for here boyfriend (cool) at age 17-20...whatever and then is take off her clothes to win a beauty pageant...where is Jesus in this picture. No one is perfect, but she needs to stop pretending that she is conservative.

Why is she coming out against Donald Trump NOW...why didn't she stand up for herself, quit the contest and tell all of his ways then. Isn't Trump the same guy that publicly stood up for her after the controversy. She has an unhealthy inflated sense of self right now. I mean, even if what she said about Trump is true, who goes into a beauty pageant without expecting people to judge their beauty.

Another blatant example of liberal bias in the media!
Years ago when Vanessa Williams lost her crown it was reported that there were "nude" pictures of her found. I saw those pictures and they were disgusting!
It was an oral/anal session with another woman. Of course, she was given a pass for the X rated content and it was only reported that she was naked. Of course, because Carrie is a conservative Christian she is crucified. Shame on your double standard media.

What have we learned of this.

Never answer a question with an unpc answer, even your answer reflects what much of, if not most of, the country thinks.

If you do:

You will lose things you have worked for, even if you worked years for them.

Every single skeleton in your closet will be all over the news.

People will believe the word of anyone who says anything negative about you. It doesn't matter if they just showed they can't be trusted by betraying you dearly.

She is a disgrace and a huge hipocrit. I can't believe how she just digs her hole deeper and deeper. The only thing inappropriate is her. Carrie, if you have so much to say about everything, then don't back down from a simple question LK asks you. It seems you want to speak up about everything else (while never losing that fake looking smile)... I have no problem with standing up for what you believe, but when your reasoning for doing so is religious beliefs, I'm certain God didn't say it was okay to be sleeping around before marriage either so, I'd like to say, Carrie - crawl back in the hole you came from and do us all a favor.

This woman is seriously stupid and spoiled. She thinks she's "accomplished so much " because she's an author - a book that was obviously written for her, handed to her on a silver platter like everything else in her life. And of course anyone who questions her obvious insincerity is 'questioning her religion'. I feel sorry for the people that have to wait hand and foot on this princess.

Inappropriate is quoting the Bible and lecturing others about family values and morality and then pretending that posing for photos in skimpy bikinis or topless isn't tied to the sins of Lust (reason to look at) and Greed (reason to pose for them). Or pretending that beauty pageants aren't as well. They've always been about boiling women down to sex appeal. That filming yourself masturbating and sending it to a many you've had premarital relations with somehow is OK as long as you say you "did it for love". Where does the Bible have that disclaimer? That one can sin if it was for "love"? As for being taken advantage of... hasn't Carries own parents been acting as her manager(s) all this time? Not to mention she joined the paegants as an adult that knew lying on a job application was wrong. But I guess if the Bible doesn't specifically mention 'lying on a job application' it's ok, right Carrie? I believe Carrie is dedicated to the Almighty. The Almighty Dollar. Pride. Envy. Lust. Greed. Carrie's got you covered.

Larry King is a very busy man and often gets to the set right before the show with very little preparation. I don't believe he was pretending not to know he was not to take calls.

oh, is the first amendment the one that protects beauty pageant contestants from being criticized by other people because they've said something bigoted or ignorant? geez, i better re-read the Constitution, because i thought it said something like:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

at least Ms. Prejeans can still speak freely about the lack of freedom of speech!
