[Updated] Carrie Prejean accuses Larry King of being 'inapproprate' and then fails to walk off his set

You know that video that's going viral today -- trending on Google and Twitter, thanks in to large part to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton -- of Carrie Prejean calling Larry King "inappropriate" on his talk show last night and threatening to leave?

We'd like to call it "inappropriate" too.  And maybe even throw a "misleading" for good measure. In the entertaining three-minute clip, Prejean becomes agitated when King repeatedly asks her why she dropped her claims of libel, slander, and religious discrimination against the Miss USA pageant. TMZ has reported that Prejean decided to strike a deal only after the lawyer for the pageant revealed a homemade sex tape of a 17-year-old Prejean.

King wasn't asking about the particulars of the settlement, just why she settled, mind you.  But Prejean repeatedly called him "inappropriate," took off her microphone, and appeared to want to leave. She never really owned that moment, we should add. She fumbled, looked around the room, and stayed sitting in the chair, even though she had removed her mike.

And then after the commercial break -- which you don't see on the clip that hit cyberspace last night -- Prejean is still in her seat. She didn't go anywhere. There was still her new book, "Still Standing" to promote.  So she forgave King for his other violation -- Prejean's publicist had set some rules: no phone calls and King had turned to his phone lines when she refused to answer his "inappropriate" questions.

The air was cleared, King apologized saying his producers didn't warn him of the no-calls rules, and King got to the new matter at hand: Prejean's future.

The following is an excerpt from that portion of the conversation:
King: What are you going to do next?

Prejean: Oh, my gosh. I'm just so excited to be, you know, promoting this book. I'm so excited to be an author now. It's really great that -- I'm 22 years old, and I think that I've accomplished so much. And I think that there is definitely a message out there to spread to young women and that is, you know, never do anything that you wouldn't want your biggest fans to see or, you know, never do anything that, heaven forbid, your dad would see.

So I think that there's definitely a message out there to spread to young women, to just be careful of what they do. And you can definitely learn from my mistakes.

King: So you have some regrets?

Prejean: Excuse me?

King: You have some regrets?

Prejean: Well, obviously the choices I made when I was a teenager, you know, that doesn't reflect who I am today. So yes, there were mistakes in my life. And no one's perfect. And I'm definitely owning up to those mistakes. As far as the pageant goes, no, I have no regrets.

Does Larry? We've asked him for a comment. We'll report if he appropriately gets back to us.

[Updated at 12:21 p.m.: King doesn't want to comment, but he tweeted a link to his interview, so it doesn't seem he's got any remorse. On that note, King's spokesperson points out that the reason King was so confused when Prejean yet again accused him of being "inappropriate" for taking calls from viewers -- which he does every night -- is that there were no preconditions to the interview. Prejean was making that up, King's spokesperson said. And now it seems Prejean has been caught in another fib by TMZ.]

She's not that pretty & doesn't deserve half the attn she's getting. There are tons of California gals way prettier than she is. Especially here in LA, exotic Asians, warm & curvy Latinas, beautiful biracial women, and real blondes w/ real boobs and brains. She's all fake! I always wonder why the American public falls for this nonsense! Beauty pageants are so 80's! Women who get implants and eat a carrot a day just to win a beauty pageant are so lame!

The most hypocritical thing I've seen yet is Anderson Cooper is slamming on Prejean. No one would be slamming on her if she didn't make that comment. If being gay is so okay, then why does Anderson Cooper hide his own homosexuality? Even Anderson Cooper can't admit being gay is okay and he's GAY!! WTF!!

People are going to great lengths to try and embarass and discredit this dumb white lady, which is fine. But I find it extremely disturbing how easily the media is completely blind to blackmail and harassment as long as they agree with the end result. And idiots wonder how we waltzed into Iraq with no questions asked.

What if you don't agree with them the next time? Shouldn't the media uphold some standard of ethics and try to report the facts instead of joining in and trying to discredit someone they disagree with? Or at least don't use a closet gay to attack someone who disagrees with being gay.

does anyone honestly care what this girl thinks? she is a 22 yr old puppet being exploited and taking advantage of her 15 minutes of fame. why don't we try to talking about healthcare, bio/nuclear terrorism, foreclosures, hungry American kids??? is it just me?

It's OK to have sex before marriage but its not OK for gays to be married. Hmmmm.....

DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK! DON'T BUY PREJEANS BOOK!

THIS LYING, SELF ABSORBED, HYPOCRITE, BIBLE THUMPING, NASTY SKANK NEEDS TO JUST GO AWAY! SHE'S A TOTAL LOSER, THAT'S ONLY AFTER MONEY! HOPEFULLY THIS AIR HEAD SKANK WILL JUST GO BACK TO CALIFORNIA WITH HER BOOK AND DIE!

I hope TMZ can follow up with an age clarification report. If she wasn't under a Miss USA pageant contract then King shouldn't have asked about it. I really don't care about her teen sex life, although if she could prove she was 17 at the time of taping she might be able to have the other person or people arrested. I bet he/they would pay a lot of money to keep this quiet. LOL

When is her 15 minutes going to be up?

Prejean is a disaster. But it is worth noting that President Obama has the EXACT same view of gay marriage as Carrie Prejean.

don't see a lot of Obama apologists and Palin bashers on here mentioning that inconvenient truth. I wonder why?

It's good that "Little Miss Perfect" took off her microphone. She should clam up (nudge nudge, wink wink) about her "christian morality" and her gay-hating vitriol should be silenced.

She's not a victim here, she's no Erin Andrews. Prejean is a self-satisfied and smug hypocrite and is being exposed as such. She deserves every ounce of humliation she gets...yet somehow, she seems to enjoy it, going on TV instead of hiding in a trailer park like Tonya Harding.

Typical dumb slut finishing up her 15 minutes of fame. Buy her book and learn how to lay on your back and make a living.

If standing up for her own beliefs means affirming a belief in the lie that myth is truth, then she should be treated like a liar by the media. The truth is that myth is myth. Those who claim that myth is truth, make themselves into liars.

After reading all these comments from the good ole LA Times. Just a fair newpaper. NOT! Look Carrie is beautiful , educated and Real. She stands up to the like Even all your nasty comments about Sarah and her will not do ya any good. Know why? because of your jealious nasty hearts. She will and is I might add a beautiful. smart wowen is as normal and they come.

Remember the mean girls in high school? yeah you, the ones that never grew up, your still that way, and Carrie was the girl you were jealious over. So stop it. Because in the whole spectrum!!! guys and gals. She is attractive, powerful and all men would love to be in her company. If you seen her in person which I did. She is awesome. Larry would love to have her around his skinny dieing looking face, and bad breathe self anytime!

I have no idea how this woman came to represent freedom of speech in America. I don't care if you're conservative or liberal, this woman is just plain dumb. Please anoint her as your icon of your party; she'll make a wonderful vice president. LOL.

@ James: "Shame on you VULCHERS..." --> Goddamn. I rest my case. Tee-hee.

Carrie Prejean and Sarah Palin are so uneducated, misinformed, inarticulate and combative. Both have emphasized beauty over substance. Authors?! Not in the literary sense. Please, for the sake of all of us ... just stop talking -- especially in public. You are setting women back hundreds of years. I am a Christian woman and journalist and I am so embarrassed by these two women. Here's hoping they fade into the background. Soon. Very soon.

"I believe in freedom of speech and Carrie has every right to express her's without being condemned for it. "

Freedom of speech means she has a right to express her opinions. It also means that we very much have a right to condemn her, for her opinions, for her so-called religion, or for her Barbie-doll appearance.

But we aren't even condemning her for her opinions, we're condemning her for her hypocrisy. She's a woman with heavy makeup-up and breast implants that struts half-naked in front of men and who is doing whatever it takes to promote her book. I see greed, avarice, lust, and vanity. Who is she to tell anybody about morality? Under a traditional Christian moral code, she would have been excluded from society or the media. It's only because we have become so secular that people like her even have a voice.

O come on. Larry didn't know? Then he is either a bigger idiot than I thought he was or he is the one not telling the truth. I personally have NO opinion on this bimbo who trys to continue to stay in the spotlight but King is the one in the wrong here.

He was told before the interview - don't talk about the lawsuit - nothing - she can't discuss the agreement - not the amount - not why she settled - NOTHING! When this is pointed out he fains the question is innocent. It is often the case that if you break the agreement then you forefit the settlement - All she was saying is that she couldn't discuss it.

Then he goes to callers? Again he didn't know? Isn't he the producer? As they say on SNL "Really!?"

This woman is pathetic. Larry King is the greatest interviewer on television: she is a moron. It is painfully obvious that she is desperate to cover up her past and can't defend her actions. When she grows up, she'll realize what an idiot she made of herself on national television. Ugh!

Not only was she 20 when it was made, she called the ex and asked him to lie last weekend!!!

How Christian is that? The Right needs to stop glomming on to pretty faces and start (again) looking for some substance. It's catastrophically missing from conservative politics at the moment.
