Repossessed! Larry Pittman and his team attempt to pick up enough big items to be able to make a down payment on a new tow truck that will bring the business to the next level (6 and 9 p.m. National Geographic).

Alaska State Troopers: Filmed over the course of 10 months, this new series follows several of the 400 state troopers who patrol the Alaska wilderness and its remote villages (7 and 10 p.m. National Geographic).

America's Next Top Model: After trying to navigate Los Angeles during an afternoon of "go-sees," the models hang by a wire in a martial-arts-inspired photo shoot (8 p.m. KTLA).

American Masters: "Joan Baez: How Sweet the Sound" chronicles the private life and the public career of the folk-singing recording artist and political activist. Filmed during her 2008-09 world tour, the program features interviews with Bob Dylan, David Crosby, Roger McGuinn, Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt, among other artists. (8 p.m. KCET).

Full Color Football: The History of the American Football League: The premiere of this series looks at the early days of the AFL through the stories of eyewitnesses, including John Madden, Dan Rather, Larry King, Tim Russert, Hank Stram and Jim Brown (8 p.m. Showtime).

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: After a night of heavy drinking, a man (Scott Foley) wakes up with a head injury and a dead woman in his bed he doesn't recognize. Detectives Benson and Stabler (Mariska Hargitay, Christopher Meloni) try to piece together the crime by returning to the bar where the night began. Richard Belzer also stars (9 p.m. NBC).

MythBusters: Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage devote an episode to myths surrounding duct tape (9 p.m. Discovery).

Top Chef: Las Vegas: The remaining chefs visit the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino to scope out chef and guest judge Charlie Palmer's Aureole restaurant, noted for its extensive wine collection (10 p.m. Bravo).

SPECIALS

Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak: Filmmakers Lance Bangs and Spike Jonze document the life of the children's book author and illustrator (7 p.m. HBO).

MOVIES

Nanny McPhee: Emma Thompson stars as a governess who helps a widower (Colin Firth) corral his seven children. Angela Lansbury, Imelda Staunton, Kelly Macdonald, Eliza Bennett and Thomas Sangster costar in this 2005 family film (8 p.m. ABC Family).

Lakeview Terrace: Samuel L. Jackson plays a police officer with an immediate resentment of his newlywed new neighbors, an interracial couple (Patrick Wilson, Kerry Washington), and begins a campaign of oppression against them in this 2008 drama (10 p.m. Starz).

SPORTS

Hockey: The L.A. Kings visit the New York Rangers (4 p.m. FSN); the Minnesota Wild visits the Anaheim Ducks (7 p.m. FS Prime).

Soccer: 2010 World Cup Qualifier: United States vs. Costa Rica, from Washington, D.C. (4:30 p.m. ESPN2).

College football: Boise State at Tulsa (5 p.m. ESPN).
