POLICE SHOOTING: When one policeman kills another, Brass (Paul Guilfoyle, left), Nick (George Eads) and the team investigate in this new episode of ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,’ at 9 p.m. on CBS. SERIES

Community: In this new episode, someone cheats on a Spanish test and Senor Chang (Ken Jeong) threatens to fail the whole class. Jeff (Joel McHale) comes to the cheater’s defense. (8 p.m. NBC).

The Vampire Diaries: Elena (Nina Dobrev) demands that Stefan (Paul Wesley) explain the recent frightening events in Mystic Falls, and he reveals how his lethal rivalry with brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) began in this new episode (8 p.m. KTLA).

Supernatural: When Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles) look into a series of odd murders that resemble fairy tales and urban legends, their investigation leads them to an 11-year-old boy (Gattlin Griffith) who makes real anything that he imagines. Misha Collins also stars in the new episode (9 p.m. KTLA).

30 Rock: The multiple Emmy-winning sitcom opens a fourth season with Jack (Alec Baldwin) grappling with the grim real-world economics currently facing network television executives while Liz (Tina Fey) tries to milk her newfound and unexpected celebrity for all it’s worth. Jane Krakowski, Tracy Morgan and Jack McBrayer also star (9:30 p.m. NBC).

In Performance at the White House: In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama host a White House concert with Marc Anthony, Jimmy Smits, Pete Escovedo, Gloria Estefan, José Feliciano, George Lopez, Thalía, Tito ‘El Bambino,’ Aventura and Los Lobos, with Sheila E. (10 p.m. KCET).

Project Runway: This new episode is titled ‘Sequins, Feathers and Fur, Oh My!’ (10 p.m. Lifetime).

Mall Cops: This new series reveals a day at the Mall of America through the eyes of the men and women assigned to protect the stores and shoppers (10 p.m. TLC).

E! Investigates: Last Days of Michael Jackson: Aspects of the pop star’s sometimes bizarre life come to light as the investigation into the circumstances of his death continues in this new special (10 p.m. E!).

MOVIES

Paper Moon: Director Peter Bogdanovich scored a smash with this 1973 black-and-white comedy that follows a Depression-era con man who learns to exploit the precocious 9-year-old orphan who unexpectedly has come into his charge. The charming father-daughter act by Ryan and Tatum O’Neal (who won an Oscar) is enhanced by Madeline Kahn’s hilarious turn as a colorful floozy they meet on their journey (5 p.m. TCM).

O Brother, Where Art Thou? This 2000 comedy, made by Joel and Ethan Coen and loosely inspired by Homer’s classic ‘The Odyssey,’ puts three escaped convicts (George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson) on the run as they seek a hidden treasure (7 p.m. TCM).

College football: Cincinnati at South Florida (4:30 p.m. ESPN).

Hockey: The Kings visit the Detroit Red Wings (4:30 p.m. FSN).
